Fox News should be here shortly to cover the war on Christians
Nailed it. With special commentary from Tim Tebow, no doubt. I believe there is a god, and I thank him often for separation of church and state and ask that sporting events be decided on the field and not in heaven.

I think it's annoying that these attention seekers aren't happy with the extent of the attention they're getting. I think it's obnoxious they put the crosses into their paint...It's slightly better than the people that carry around religious signs on Bourbon St. Why is LSU obligated to promote their choice of religion?

That'd be kind of creepy, given their alleged fondness for altar boys, don't you think?

A victory for censorship advocates everywhere. Its BS. Show them as they are or don't show them at all. Censoring them is garbage.

Vincent didn't incorporate anything. The "religious symbols" were already present in the photo. The Admin took direct action to explicitly remove them. That in itself is a religious message; it communicates a worldview.
There is no such thing as a worldview neutral position. Some worldview will be espoused. In this case, the state funded university made an anti-Christian statement.
Does our Admin really want to convey that we (LSU) don't want it known that some of its student body are followers of Jesus? Do they really not want to communicate that LSU is ok with religious expression at sporting events? If one of our players has a Jesus or Cross tatoo on say his forearm, will they censor that out as well?
BTW, what contractural rights are in play here?
A good lawyer can easily win a suit against LSU for doing this as well as using images of students in advertising campaigns without contractually signed approval by the students. This isn't an image during a game while the game is playing but one taken at a game and used for a marketing/advertising campaign.
They used the image of people (LSU does not own them) and altered the image of those people without approval and that's the crux of the matter that will bite them on the arse much bigger than this. A good advertising/entertainment lawyer should be chomping at the bit to rep these guys.

I've never noticed their cross. Geez LSU, worried someone was going to think they were good church going kids?
The horror. Good thing no one got to see the cross. Whew.

They airbrush out religious symbols, but I find Toonces far more offensive
Finally!! Some one else besides me who thinks that gay-looking kittykat is, let's say, less than fear-inducing. "Growl, hisss, we're Tigers and we'll scratch your eyes out!"

What?
There's an "I hate Toonces" thread once per week on the Rant.

LSU would still lose. It's ownership of image that is being used in an advertising campaign for LSU's Geaux-Mail. LSU did not pay for the image or have a contract with the people portrayed. LSU Sports is BIG ENTERTAINMENT BUSINESS and the day has been coming for this to happen. LSU censoring the photo took loyal fans and has angered them. LSU along with other college athletic departments has gotten away with this for a long time.

You really think Biblical Christianity and Islam and the Nazis are moral equivalents?
Unfortunately, for the more fanatical practitioners, yes. (Willing to go to war and kill other people for not sharing their beliefs.)

If these young men would have had OBAMA on their chest I promise you LSU would not have air brushed the photo. We would have heard nothing about LSU not supporting political veiws of others. Christ still has enemies.

There is likely an agreement on the ticket that your likeness can be used if you choose to attend the game.

LSU's action here makes me a little less proud to be a grad.

Every public university would do this. I'm surprised at how many people don't understand the point of this policy.

In that agreement does it state that the university has the right to change or alter your image.
BTW, just because it is there doesn't mean that it won't/can't be taken to court. I've worked for many years in a field where all images must be approved by the people whose likeness is being used. Suits were won in the past (and this includes peons who won) over less than this.
