Lately LSU has been a lot more lenient on what architects are allowed to do with the facade of buildings/structures. It used to be like Nazi Germany, but it seems that a few structures were given free reign.
It seems like they sort of wax and wane on that over the years.
The Middleton Library is one of the biggest architectural abominations in the state, and it was built in the 50s.
Other modern structures on campus (such as the PMAC and Union building) actually seem work pretty well aesthetically, without perfectly blending in architecturally.

Why in the world won't they put "Welcome to Death Valley" instead of "Tiger Stadium"????????

From my experience, the Spanish style architecture is a mainstay and will be. The architects are allowed to deviate on some things such as the facade, if it jives with the flow of the rest of the campus, but the Spanish tiles are pretty much a requirement.
The first thing that came to mind when I opened the model was that it reminded me of Rosenblatt(sp?). I wouldn't mind something like this at the new box but this clashes too much with the football stadium.

Yeah the bamboo rotunda is terrible.

Have they ever talked about renovating the concoarses, where the vending areas and bathrooms are? My only complaint about Tiger stadium is that. It looks like High school stuff in that area.

The southside looks like Alcatraz

It's actually "Italian Renaissance style."

Probably meant Spanish tile.

The "Tiger Stadium" lettering has that Yankee Stadium look to it.

The only thing worse than architecture by some out of touch midwesterner, is architecture by the collective masses.
I'm sure there have to be plenty of firms locally, or in-state, they could hire who would "get" the historical aesthetic people here (laymen?) have no trouble understanding.

Upper seating will not wrap all the way to west side.
