IIRC, Wade's contract says he can be terminated for cause if they receive a NOA. Not if the allegations are proven, just if they receive one. And LSU has apparently received one.

So Wade is likely gone.

quote:

The details of the meeting between LSU and basketball coach Will Wade on April 12 are becoming clear. As part of his reinstatement, the coach made concessions in his contract, according to documents obtained by Sports Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger as part of a public records request. Under two amendments he agreed the school add to his contract, LSU can fire Wade for cause if he is found to have committed Level I or Level II NCAA violations, or if the NCAA infractions committee issues a formal notice of Level 1 or Level 2 violations to LSU involving the coach.

I like it. Embrace the villain role and get juice from it.

He should do what Dale Brown did...threaten to take everyone down with him. I'll bet he could drop a lot of names... Coaches, Schools, Players? What we offered, and what they offered for a player. Call em Gestapo Bastards!!!

Why does any institution even listen to the joke that is the NCAA? They don’t even matter. They are NATO. Send the letter back - tell them to go F themselves and punish how you see fit.

To the dude who just called Paul Finebaum talking about the people on "the LSU message board" who is willing to accept what Will Wade did.

The ONLY thing Will Wade did was get recorded because he didn't do anything that hasn't been going on for decades.

And what he did is now legal.

And whatever happened to Zion Williamson and the $400k he received while at Duke? The NCAA is a joke.

He completely exceeded expectations.

Perfect timing.

Next from Pat Forde is a thrice rehashed article on the same subject from last year, the year before and the year before that.

Of course its the week of Selection Sunday lol. They don't even pretend.

It's either signing day or march madness.

As I posted a few months ago, I hope we can keep WW, but if not, SW already has his pick for who is next. Any smart AD would be prepared and he is. West Coast current coach is top of list, but again hope we can keep WW

Yep. Every year right before March Madness. Many of on this board predicted this several months ago. I think we are going on year three of Pat Forde rehashed allegations. Not NCAA allegations. Pat Forde allegations.

I'm skeptical of Woody's ability to hire a basketball coach. His prior attempts have not been good, Buzz Williams and extended Lorenzo Romar at Washington.

Hiring a football coach when your school has unlimited resources and facilities (like at A&M and LSU) is one thing, but having to hire a basketball coach with limited resources and facilities is a completely different ballgame.

ETA. The last West Coast guy we had was Trent Johnson.

ETA 2. What is the selling point, we just fired the only coach to take us to multiple consecutive tournaments (3 or more) since Shaq played. Good luck, coach.

This is a fair point.

elllssssuuuuu is right about SW and WW.

I wonder when we will find out what the charges/violations are? That will make a big difference, IMO.

I wrote my letter to SWoodward (as a season ticket holder since 1976) last year outlining my hopes that WW would NOT be terminated even if we got Level I violations. Unless WW gets a show clause, he should remain at LSU and lead us through whatever penalties we get.

I am worried that it won't be NCAA penalties that really penalize LSUMBB for a decade, but SW's kneejerk action in replacing WW when he need not.

Not the way he allegedly did it but there would be plauible deniability that he was talking about a strong arse NIL offer.

The key word in that contract is “can”. They can fire him but aren’t obligated to do so.

Tennessee fired Bruce Pearl and now he’s crushing it at another school within the conference.

Memphis fired Cal (maybe he left on his own, I can’t remember, but he left nonetheless) and he went in to win a natty at UK and is doing well there.

UNC stuck by Roy Williams through the fake classes scandal, which imo was worse than paying players and he continued being successful after the fact.

Idc what the NCAA proves, paying players has always been done and now it’s legal. Take the punishment but keep the coach.
