Help me out, Rant.

As a guy that wants to see us return to form starting from the inside out on defense, do I want this?

Yeah I don't see what the big fricking deal is. There isn't an athletic department in the country thats going to pay a new staff & an extra year for the old one. If that's what Chavis wanted, it sounds like he thought he earned a "vacation" year.

Am I misunderstanding the "miles clause?"

I think so, that's why I said I don't think it means what you think it means.

LSU wanted the clause in there, Chavis didn't...probably because he went through that at Tennessee. At least that has been what the public reports are, there was probably other things on top of it.

And back to the original point on Pendergast, that's why he wasn't retained. New guy came in and brought his own guy with him. Chavis wanted to be covered if the same thing happened if he was still around when Miles leaves.

Coaches want to bring in their own guys. Its not that difficult to comprehend. Read the article, they made the superbowl and he got canned

Which is what makes Chavis guarantee demands so asinine.

Well, there are at least 2 athletic departments that will do it because A&M gave Chavis a gauranteed contract and Pendergast is still being paid by USC. It's a terrible idea, but some schools will do it if they think it's necessary.

The question I have is why did he want it so badly? What does he know?

So what time is this meeting taking place? Where's mytigger? Give us some more info.

I don't know the when and where details. I'll try to get some info tomorrow on how it went. I was told it would be a long shot to get him, but you never know.

You guys don't get it. Everyone on staff knew Miles was going to Michigan if HARbrough didn't go. Miles endorsed his buddy Cam as next tiger coach instead of Chavis. Chavis even though he says he wouldn't be head coach. He would of j jumped at being tigers head man. Let's say his feathers were ruffled. And that's when he contacted A&M. It's that simple.
I would bet the farm that's this will be Cam Cameron last year. He came here under the pretense this would play out as stated above. Jim Harbrough surprised everyone by jumping back to college game.

Sexton would take a meeting with the devil if it meant getting any of his clients a five dollar raise.

Hates recruiting. Knows his X's and O's and is great at making in game adjustments, but if there's one thing he doesn't like, it's definitely recruiting.

IDGAF about this point. We just lost a DC who hated recruiting. I can live with another one. Hope they can get Pendergast on board.

I hope not - I'd prefer Pendergast.
Id prefer Muschamp for a few reasons:

1. imagining the look on Gerald Willis face when he heard the news

2. it would completely frick Auburn, who would really be under the gun at this point to find a replacement

3. we would likely have to pay him at least 1.8, maybe even 2.0, which would completely spin everything back against TAM. we could say we could have signed chavis, it wasn't about money, we just didn't want to. it paints TAM as second-tier that got our hand-me-downs.

4. Pendergrast apparently doesn't like recruiting, whereas Muschamp is not only good at it but entrenched in the SEC.

Its beyond stupid. I could almost buy a "severance" type deal for a long term guy like Chavis but not a guaranteed year.

I don't see why LSU wouldn't guarantee the moon, LSU would be lucky as hell to keep him if Miles left (so why not guarantee it, no harm)...any new coach after Miles would have to deal and keep Chavis or they could keep looking. Alleva was insane not to agree to this the second Chavis had an issue, and he needs to be let go now
