There is a concept that is part of self-defense called "continuing threat" where the totality of the circumstances must be examined. Time to speculate...
It could be argued, but it's a stretch. While the only video evidence shows Hill hitting him in the back of the head, it also does not show any of the circumstances that got them to that point, which are crucial to his defense.
I came on here yesterday and explained fighting words and heat of passion, etc. to illustrate how criminal charges are analyzed in the court. There's a good chance this never becomes anything more than simple battery. But then a couple of the geniuses on here thought I was stupid for saying that, so no point in trying to be rational in here.

Just suspend the guy for a few games, call it an internal matter, and move on.

Because it is not an internal issue, it is a matter of public record and a legal issue.
It will be dealt with as such.

So a company with over 100 employee has 1 employee each year that gets into a legal problem (drunk driving, fighting, etc.), does the owner of the company get blamed?

My dad always told me to use fighting as a last resort, but if you have to fight, remember 2 things: (1) put your opponent on the ground and (2) don't let him get up. Sounds like Hill covered both bases.

THEN the "victim" after being dropped starts to get off the ground as shown in the video. Would a clever defense lawyer say "my client saw that as a continuing threat, and felt compelled to continue to defend himself."
SO, the theory is one continuing event, one continuing threat, so after the arse kicking, JH was still defending himself.
Yeh, but he was supposedly walking away, not just getting up. So unless they can say it was reasonable to think he was going for a gun or something, that kind of nullifies that defense

I wish they would just release the video so people can form their own opinions instead of having the media communicate their interpretation of what happened. In reality, most of the media hasn't seen the video either.

From what i understand Hill ran up and punched the kid in the side of the head, from behind.
I did not see the video but this was said on the radio today. If that is true, Hill is done, as in prison.

That's the ticket!

That's just it. I don't know whether any of the media outlets reporting on this have even seen the video. Yet, they're making statements on what they've "heard" is in the video. If Hill did what's been reported, then he deserves to get booted and possibly do jail time. I just don't trust the media enough to believe half of what I'm hearing.

Honeybadger mutiple drug fails. No sweat continue to ball cause no one does it better. I wonder how many of those fails happened in 2011 when he was a Heismann finalist? yep it's all good.
Maybe we should have been like other college programs and just not tested for synthetic weed. I'm not sure what the policies are now, but the LSU's testing was optional under NCAA policy at the time. We were one of the few programs that actually tested for it...and yet we're 'out of control'
