LSU ranked #4 in SP+

When ranking out how good teams actually are (which is different from a results based ranking like AP or CFP) especially in a predictive “which team is more likely to win” sort of way, I tend to like SP+ a bit more than FPI or other power rankings. In this weeks rankings, LSU is up to #4; I believe being rewarded for dominant wins and close, unlucky losses against decent opponents on the road. Has us with the #5 offense and #5 defense.

Do y’all agree? Do you think any other team ranked below us would be more likely to beat us on a neutral field?

The infuriating part to me is that Ole Miss’s defense is ranked #48 and we still did nothing the first half of that game. And Kentucky’s offense is only ranked #22 and it seemed like they scored at will at the end of the game. I think we’re a solid team, but inconsistent play in key moments against teams good enough to take advantage of that has cost us huge so far this season.
