His immobility is the biggest reason he went back on the depth chart. He can't create if it isn't there because he's a statue.

Progressions would help. Climbing the pocket, feeling the blitz, not throwing a 90 mph fastball on a RB dump off, etc... he’s also just a freshman so most of this is to be expected.

It’s all part of the mental game. You don’t have to get offended. I’m not calling him dumb. He’s just an insanely talented kid in a room full of insanely talented QBs. His fellow freshman just so happens to be more ready to handle those aspects of the game than he is right now. Shouldn’t surprise anyone considering his pedigree.

Did Burrow have the mental side of the game in"18"?

No he didn't. But he was the best we had. It was a Burrow interception that was the deciding factor in the 18 Florida game.
Once they all get equal reps, the pecking order could change.

good lord, man, 2018 was because Burrow, CEH, Chase, Jefferson, etc. was operating in Ensminger's offense.

Burrow didn't just magically transform from average to the GOAT in 8 months between the 2018 and 2019 seasons.

It was because he (and the other NFL talent) were put into the right system under Joe Brady. All their talent was there in 2018, but they were in a poor system under E.

Ironically, Burrow had accuracy issues in 18. It sounds crazy looking back on it.

Max has some of the Burrow factor. Watch and see before he graduates.

Joey B beat 4 top 10 teams his first year at LSU and he didn’t get the “Burrow factor” comments as much as Max is rn after two games where we won one by a shoe. Max is great and going to get better but let him develop. Also dk how Myles doesn’t have “It” after putting up better stats in less throws. Lemme guess because he can’t run as well or the Moo State game? Get over it

mean Myles did play miss st/mizzou/vandy.

Mississippi state had the best defense of the 5 teams between Max and Myles starts. Ole miss had the worst defense in the SEC. Mizzou and Florida were rather similar in stats on defensive side

A&M, Alabama and Auburn had the best defenses we faced and we got the worst OL play.

But people are more than happy to write off Finley.

Finley has high upside with that howitzer. Lots of development needed to hone his skills though. But that's just like, my opinion man.

To defend Finley a little bit, he can develop ALL of the traits Max has, but Max simply wont ever have as live an arm or the stature of Finley. If Finley keeps working hard, he can be very special.

Unless Max beats Brennan outright this season and goes on to have a promising Sophomore campaign, I think TJ should stick around and compete.

Not that it really means anything but they did player interviews and the only QB was Max Johnson

LSU Player Interviews: QB Max Johnson "We're going to air it out."

Why not do first 3 starts?

Because it doesn't support the IT factor garbage. It's the same sort of arguments that we make fun of UGA for defending Fromm with

No idiot, it's not. It is because Max has only started 2 games. There is no 3rd start on his resume.

I realize Burrow 2018 did not have benefit of spring practice. Similar to the QBs in 2020.

Whose offense was Myles, Finley, and Johnson running?
Who were their receivers?

In 2000 all freshmen receivers except Marshall.
Toward the end of the season Boutte had come of age.
Lot of similarities of 2018 and 2020, except we had a better defense in 2018.

Most of the posts I have seen are happy to have him still in the QB room

Yep. The same fans who were ready to run off Max after South Carolina are ready to run off TJ after Florida. Smdh

Brennan is a great tiger who did everything he could do for us. But Max Johnson is LSU’s next starting QB.

Brennan apologists want a feel good story instead of a playoff caliber team. Brennan is a statue and is unable to make plays with his legs. If the great Joe Burrow had Brennan's wheels we would have gone 8-4 instead of 15-0. The only way he ever starts for LSU again is if Johnson and Nuss are injured.
