There's a 23% chance of scoring a run with 1st and 2nd and 0 outs, and a 27% chance of scoring a run with 2nd and 3rd with 1 out.

Not disagreeing with you but it’s not quite correct.

1st and 2nd 0 out - 63.37% chance to score at least 1 run

2nd and 3rd 1 out - 67.97% chance to score at least 1 run

If you are looking for 1 run, bunting is the correct play there. The problem with bunting is that it severely limits your chances to score 2+ runs, because it takes away an out to work with. I don’t have a problem with the call analytically, however, Tre has been your best hitter in Omaha. Let him swing the bat and try to blow it wide open.

Comment I was looking for: Wake’s coach expressing regret for not walking Beloso to get to Thompson. Said that he should have.

the problem is not necessarily bunting Morgan there, its that our guys can't freaking bunt.
you bunt , move runners over with one out and anything can happen to get you another run= wild pitch, grounder to right side, deep fly, single etc.

The issue everyone has is that we can't execute it so you question the decision.

I disagree with bunting Tre and JJ is a great coach. If he gets the bunt down he's a genius but I also look at the odds of him getting the bunt down as opposed to getting a hit. Calling the bunt does not make him a bad coach.

I don’t think it’s a bad call IF you have a guy up there that you are confident in his ability to lay a good bunt down. I can’t remember seeing Tre bunt before but as the coach you have to have a lot of confidence he can do it. Tre looked like he’d never tried to bunt before. It was bad execution on Tre but he’s a great player. The question is did JJ know what kind of ability he had to lay a good bunt down? Because again, it looked like something Tre was not comfortable doing.

Good professional answers

“We expect to be here”

That’s important. This isn’t freak accident. They prepare for the biggest games and players believe that they can win those games.
