LSU player you remember for 'that one play'
by CEOTiger
George Bevan...middle linebacker who played lights out again Auburn in the 1969 game. When Auburn scored in the fourth quarter, it looked like they were going to tie the game. Then Bevan blocked the extra point to preserve a 21-20 LSU victory. I thought Tiger Stadium was going to explode when he blocked that kick. That night and that play made me a lifetime Tiger fan. Many more unforgettable moments in LSU football history, but that one was pure ecstasy!
My first ever Tiger game with my Dad. October 25, 1969. Day game. I think LSU was ranked 7th and Auburn 5th. Both were unbeaten. LSU scored on the first play from scrimmage on a halfback pass from Jimmy Gilbert to Andy Hamilton.
LSU had Lee, Hillman, Ray, Hamilton, Anderson, Bevan, Bill Thomason (who assisted Bevan on the blocked XP or an earlier FG, if memory serves me right), Percy, Dantin, etc.
Auburn had Sullivan, Beasley, Zofko.
We sat in the South End Zone (I remember walking in to the end with the 'poles' :) And the SEZ was painted blue with an orange 'A U'.
I remember riding up Airline Highway past the Snake Farm, Hoppers, Roussel's, Bluebirds.
My Dad had gotten tickets from a La St.Trooper and I think his last name was Tamborella. His newphew or son rode with us - never have found out what happened to him...
Fond memories...

As many have stated, it has to be Warren Morris. Wasnt he sidelined most of the year with a broken wrist? So it literally was that one play.

Are we counting that Tuba player who beat up the Auburn kicker during the 2001 half time show?

Anthony Wilson game winning put back shot in the NCAA basketball tourney in 1986. Tigers beat Memphis State on their way to the Final Four. The Deaf Dome was rocking !

Logan Stokes was cut by the Patriots in training camp, and was picked up (and cut) by another team. He is currently in graduate school at Ole Miss.

It didn't result in a touchdown but Justin vincent's run on the first play of the 03 national championship game. Mauck ended up fumbling the snap on the 2 yard line. I remember being so nervous as a kid in the stands but when Vincent broke that run I knew LSU was ready to go.

There is so many great plays that can apply, but the two i remember best is Billy Cannons punt return on Halloween Night vs Ole Miss and Tommy Hodsons pass to Eddie Fuller vs Auburn.

Not sure how he hasn't been mentioned but Marcus Randall - Blue Grass Miracle TD pass. He fits the title description better than anyone I can think of.

D Byrd "The Catch" vs Auburn 2007
I have no idea why, must have just been the drunken eternal optimism that was my experience as a student during these golden years of football in tiger stadium, but I remember not even being nervous watching this drive. I fully expected us to win even in the last seconds of the game. I thought it was a ridiculous catch, but the impact of how close that game was and how that pulled the W out for us didn't hit me until much later.
For me, Brad Cresse's hit to win the CWS was big. At least I will always remember him for that single play. Same as Warren Morris, just not quite as "magical" I guess.
