One game.

In February.

Not pitched by Lange or Poche.

Feb. 18th 2015

McNeese vs LSU (L) 6-3

LSU went on to be one of the last 4 teams still playing baseball come Omaha.

It's one game. Gtfo with all this doomsday/sky is falling bullshite. Every year y'all motherfrickers bring a football attitude to baseball and make a fool out of yourself.

Step back from the ledge. We're fine.

What a fricking shite show. No business losing to Lamar.

2009 team lost to Nicholls, at home. Scored 1 run. To Nicholls. A team that went 9-23 in the Southland Conference. With a 4.97 team ERA.

It happens.

yea, we're due for an off year and this is it. imo, of course. things can get better but our pitching staff sucks eggs tonight.

You're, by far, one of the most pessimistic posters on this site.

Since basically the entire staff returns, unless they forgot how to pitch after a year with one of the best pitching coaches in the country, we'll be fine.

Midweek games, particularly early in the season, are there to try and find the players that can make a real contribution to the team that aren't already pegged as starters. Bertman did the same thing when he was the head coach. Wouldn't you prefer to find out that Smith is going to sheet the bed when things don't go right in a midweek game vs Lamar rather than on an SEC weekend. Bugg has always been hit and miss so not surprised at all by his performance. The offense was there and we learned a little something about the new guys.

What happened to Bugg? He was better than this last year.

It's one game. There are few things I love more than this board after a meaningless midweek baseball loss.

I guess LSU fans will never understand the game of baseball. its fricking baseball people, and a midweek baseball game in FEBRUARY. chill out. I'm glad we played away from the box so early in the season and against a pretty decent Lamar team. we should play more midweek games away from the box this early on in the season, it will definitely benefit us in the long run. Especially our pitching staff.

8 run lead wasn't enough to hold back the highly touted lamar cardinals

why does everyone think lsu's bullpen is a strength (pretty much everyone who pitched last night is either going to be in the bullpen or possibly a sunday starter)? i dont get it.

what exactly are you basing it on? no one has ever said our bullpen is a strength.

the bullpen is not the same as alex lange. they're two different entities.

People think that because they're experienced, they have to be good. And it doesn't help when PM leaves in freshmen to give up 7 runs in less than 2 innings.

And we know it will be a tough year for pitching from one game, an away game, against an undefeated opponent who had beaten top 25 Arizona by 8 runs. On a cold night. Against a senior-dominated team.

We'll never win another game again!

You point is taken but it's not like some of these guys are new faces. It's basically just par for the course with Bain, Cartwright, and Bugg.

Some nights they're good. Other nights not. They're just not consistent enough.

eta: ell i think smith is a juco transfer.

first of all, i'm not a football mofo. baseball is my number one sport as I've played and coached. I think i'm fairly balanced with my views. I felt Lamar was going to beat us last night (as my posts before the game showed) and I was right. sorry that pisses you off and you have to pigeon hole me into some "category" because I express an opinion.

yes, as I have said on every occasion, this team can mature into a good team BUT it is not right now. there are too many first year starters. as an opposing coach, I would take note that this team sucks at hitting curve balls and dish up a steady diet of them. I also am not as sold on our pitching staff as folks are on here but it is one man's opinion and I assure you it's not a "football attitude". I would have had the exact same opinions even if we had won that game. our second inning burst was as much about Lamar's frick ups as it was about our hitting. anybody not named Lange is pretty inconsistent on the mound and has been.

there is talent on this team and I enjoy watching them play. I love lsu baseball and sorry if you disagree with my opinions. i'm as far from the "ledge" as you are and probably farther. I hope i'm wrong I just call 'em as I see 'em.

The "bullpen" was right in front of me at the game.

Each pitcher looked a little scared as they warmed up.

Maybe because the drunks heckling them. Maybe because of Lamar's red hot bats.
Maybe because they had to warm up by themselves one at a time.
Maybe because every other reliever was getting rocked.
Maybe because they didn't have their best stuff.
