John Smoltz. Why announce Georgia games, when you can be a pitching coach on a college level. Always seemed like a smart guy and has the experience of the starter and the closer. Knows what it is like from both sides of the pitching spectrum. Was also a decent hitter in terms of pitcher's batting in the NL. Could maybe give a little pointers about what that batter might be coming up to the plate looking from you and get you to break your tendencies a little to get that tough out with bases loaded. Plus it would help recruit players from out of Georgia and Florida, or anyone who watched baseball in the 90's. Come pitch under a future Hall of Fame pitcher in a stadium that has crowds larger than the Marlins on many nights.

I would disagree with you on Tom Brown. Yes, he has been away from the college game for a long time, but he can teach pitching at any level. As far as recruiting, Tom Brown saying to an 18 year old pitcher "I have coached hundreds of pitchers that went to the Major Leagues. Do you want to pitch for me"? I think that would go a long way.

Sure it would be great, but not going to happen, just like the rumor a few years ago that Jerry Rice was going to coach our wide receivers...

grab Jim Bullinger if Kirk falls through

Mike Lowery could have played(.454 on the year),
Seems like a lot of people are writing him off for next year, but he could start at 1B. Will be a battle between him and Bruno IMO.

Hearing a very interesting name on the board for the #LSU open coaching position. Would be a pretty solid hire with tons of experience.

I like it.

And it sucks to see Sanchez go because he seems like such a nice Mexican guy.
Yeah, I expected him to bring in a bunch of Central American-Hispanic players.
Also, I think we'll know just how big difference the 2 kids who were booted would have made. They were "big time hitters", and we didn't have many options off the bench, esp. when Ware was at football practice & Lowery was hurt.

I'd give Bruno the advantage. Lowery could take one of the outfield positions.

I like Dunn but I don't think he is their current bullpen coach.

Personally, I think Tom Brown would be an excellent hire. He's very well respected in the professional baseball world and is as good as there is as far as teaching mechanics and the mental aspects of pitching. No telling how long he would have stayed at LSU had he not had the "disagreement" with Skip during the '87 World Series.
The B.S. side of recruiting would be the big question since he hasn't had to do it in a long time, but no question he would be a major upgrade as far as evaluating who to offer or not.

and does Skip still hold much influence/grudges on these decisions? i hope not.

How should I put it?
Ben McDonald - true freshman - elimination game - extra innings - Stanford - game winning home run. Let's just say Tom Brown wasn't a fan of putting Big Ben in that situation.
