Looking at the season objectively and considering our questions at QB, I would rank LSU somewhere between 9 and 12. Does anyone else think LSU is slightly overrated at #6 (not that I'm complaining)?

I think we're just about right. Not sure who else deserves to be higher than us, other than the 5 that are.

No more overrated than a Florida with a crappy and injury ridden defense, or an overhyped USC or Georgia team, not to mention Ohio St. which can't hasn't won a big game outside of their own conference in like forever.

a tad. If lsu is supposed to finish 4th in conference 8 or 9 would seem about right.

No doubt they are because of the QB situation. I think they are 12-15 until the QB's prove themselves. Now talent wise, I think they are top 3 with USC and UGA

I think that they are about right, considering the quarterback question. The road schedule is a bitch, though. All this team would need is for a few of the younger guys to step up and over achieve on the road. That and for whoever starts at QB to limit turnovers and play with poise.

I believe that this team is a potential SEC champ. But several players are going to have to learn on the fly and become veterans before that murderer's row of an SEC schedule.

LSU just might surprise many of the naysayers that don't even have them taking the West. As far as the lines on both sides of the ball, I think that they will be exceptional. They can build on just that as the season progresses. Having a good offensive and defensive lines, IMHO, can allow a team some room for errors.

Offensively, the only question in my mind is QB and this question mark has been beat to death by everyone else. There will be too many weapons on that squad not to put up some big numbers this year.

Other than that, I guess some young guys are going to have to prove themselves in the defensive backfield. I believe that they will.

Does anyone know whether or not LSU will be using that punt formation that so many on here disparaged last year? Any idea who will be returning kickoffs and punts?

USC has to win one game against a top 15 team this year. Do you not think they are going to run circles around OSU this year?

starting a thread like this requires a little more reasoning not just stating '' we have questions at qb''.

who else would you put ahead of LSU and give some explanations...

List the 3 to 6 teams you would place ahead of the defending champ?

I'm reserving my answer until after the Auburn game.

3 that could rank higher than LSU by years end because of ease of schedule...

1. Missouri - only plays 2 tough opponents
2. West Virginia - 1 tough opponent
3. Clemson - 2 or 3 challenging games

All 3 seem have plenty of talent returning at the skill positions.

Others who may rank higher:
4. Auburn - has us at home
5. Texas - perenial underacheiver has plenty of talent
6. Texas Tech - real scary offense

this is a pre season poll.... not a '' by years end poll''

so you would have those 6 teams ahead of LSU based on those explanations?

The schedule has to count for something.
