I'm not trying to be a smartass. I'm genuinely curious. Please help me understand how a giant buyout and new fat contract isn't a large part of the deficit. For most previous years, football generated enough revenue for other sports to have a revenue neutral/loss condition and not crater the budget. Now we blow a huge wad on 2 football guys in the same fiscal year, plus the ever increasing NIL and rev sharing, and we're in the red. The other sports didn't change their financial position in any significant way. Only football. But it's not footballs fault?

Arkansas is one of only about 7 schools operating in the black in the entire FBS, and they're the shittiest doormat football program over the last 15 yrs....

It also doesn't help when your Ath Dept pays $54M buyouts and $100M new contracts.

Meaning since a good chunk came from private donations, it's their loss? Not LSUs. Even though accounted for in LSU expenses? Ok. I guess I see that. If Graves scratches a buyout check, it's his money down the drain, but lsu still has to account for the expenditure for reporting.

To add that many faculty implies there is space for that many offices and that each will bring a heck of a lot of research money of which (is it now ) ? 30% will go to the uni budget for so called overhead.
counting on millions from the fed budget? you are as special as all the other entities that also want millions from the feds.
As one of the people who feels somewhat drained by taxation, I wish that this wasn't going to happen.
This whole version of the Emperor's New Clothes seems to have a shakey foundation based on money from ESPN etc.

Of course the football coaches salaries and buyouts are a part, but those amounts are not paid in a lump sum.
And the other non revenue sports have always operated in the red so of course they are a drag on the finances.
