Some stats that pop out.
2 starters over .300.
145 guys left on base in 17 games. 8.53 guys left on base a game

We left 8.3 on base last season, so not much a difference, except this came against way worse comp than all of last year combined

we were really good for 2 weeks and have been really bad for 2 weeks
I dont think we’re just a bad team.
I yhink we can and eventually will get back to where we need to be, but it’s hard when you are just playing through it and have very few days off to reset and work on things.

The stat to look at is the average runs per game over 17 games. We average 8.5 runs per game with the opponent scoring 4.6.
If we could actually score 8 runs per game like the average says, they would be 16-1. Would rather have the wins at 8 runs a game rather than the blowout wins at 12+ runs.

Just not how baseball works though, you're going to have plenty of games you have to grind out 4-3, 5-4, even in college

That's the problem. We cannot grind out those wins at 5-4 or 4-3. All I am saying is if they could find a happy medium and actually play good baseball and not poor baseball they could be 16-1.

Until we get our mojo back, I'd kind of like to see us focus doing everything we can to score one run an inning. It's a mentality and style of play that we're kind of missing right now and it's very team oriented, IMO.

BB to K is the 1st wide angle stat I look at, and it’s pretty damn strong honestly.
It’s usually a decent predictor of success. There been a nice mix of bad luck & lack of timely hitting, but I think we already know that. There seems to be a decent base of a good offense here.

I hate LOB as a stat, it's pretty meaningless on its own without further context. Like you could score 20 runs in one inning but if the inning ends with bases loaded then that's 3 runners left on base for the inning. But I don't think anyone would categorize scoring 20 runs as an unsuccessful inning.
I think a more meaningful similar stat is BA/RISP as there's a little more context behind it.

I think OBP can provide some context to it. BA/RISP like you said is another one. And one that isn't really tracked but could easily be figured out is runs scored as a percentage of baserunners.

Gaming needs more playing time. RE. FIRST BASE

Right now the only chance we have is Curiel and Brown going off or Yorke or Cade running into a long ball.
