Most interesting is that the best statistical offense LSU has had since 2000 was the innovative and dynamic approach of Gary Crowton in 2007 using the great players recruited by Nick Saban and the fundamentals and skill sets taught by Jimbo Fisher.

Miles third year. He should get as much credit for that year as anybody. On the other hand, he should get the blame for the 2 losses. Unless you're suggesting that those losses are on Sabam and Fisher.

Idk. Things happen.

Urban Meyers left Florida a fricking mess and he was still an amazing hire at Ohio State

Replacing Sullivan with Brady was a tough but solid decision for O & E.
Replacing the passing game coordinator when LSU went 1/3 of the season without a passing touchdown was a tough decision?

And having the #6 team in the nation in O's 2nd season and E's 1st full season as OC?
I see you went to you fall back point. You bring this up every time you get stuck in a debate, even though it hardly ever fits the topic at hand.

While being tasked with changing LSU's offense to develop a substantial passing game from a historically primarily running team?
Yes that is pretty much the task. LSU can still be a primary run team. They just need a competent passing game to compliment it. But you wonder why people are upset that Alleva hired a career DL coach and a guy who hadn't been an OC this century to do it.

I just don't see how you can start a thread saying Coach E is crushin' it and then 10 pages later say JB is going to put up historic numbers this year because of what Joe Brady is bringing to the table.

LSU has school record breaking offensive years in 2001. 2003. And 2007

Also 2006 if we use the passing tds which matched 2003.

IMO, LSU dodged a bullet by missing out on Jimbo.

Yea, would suck to have an NC winning coach that just pulled in the #4 recruiting class in his first year.

If LSU dodged a bullet by missing out on Jimbo, then they jumped right in front of a train while doing so.

The "crushin it" was a tongue-in-cheek reference to the recent "Coach O is Crushin it" thread. And it was indeed a tough choice for O and E to replace a close friend (Sullivan). Does anyone doubt that Sullivan would still be here if O asked him to stay? And yeah, Burrow will kill it in a primarily RPO offense.

I seem to recall a time not that long ago around here when one season wasn't enough to judge a man on. Wonder why that's not applied here.

And this, right here, is part of the problem.

Joe Brady truly is in charge of most of the passing game, well see a ton more of the short, quick, high-percentage passes. any far fewer of those slow-developing low-percentage plays that yield almost as many throwaways as incompletions.

It almost sounds like you had a problem with scheme and playcalling.

And we were screwed at auburn in 2004 and he checked out the bowl game and we only played 11 regular season games. That shoulda been a 10 win season. If not 11.

We got smoked at UGA which was a double revenge game for them so at best 10. The Auburn would have gone to OT so who knows what would have happened. The bowl game I always thought he shouldn’t have even coached. He benched Russell the first half AND STILL only lost on a Hail Mary. I cry when I think what he might have done had he stayed 2005-2007

It is hilarious that a few LSU fans still have not figured out how damn good a QB Burrow is. He's equal to Haskins in every way. Urban Meyer has said it many, many times. But that Meyer dude doesn't know shite, right?

When it finally dawns on them, they'll have, "known it all along". Oh yeah, "knew it all along". Too funny

I've never argued against that point. Completely agree. My guess is that E deferred to Sullivan on much of the passing game.

I thinknit Wasnprobably collaborative but Sullivan is an old school guy. He was an NFL coach forever

Yes, we all know Coach O has a soft spot for hiring his friends. It's one of the things posters hated Miles for.

Of course he would probably be here. Who wouldn't want 500k for providing a barely noticable difference in the passing game.

Maybe, maybe not. But are we sure LSU will be able to run RPO's? I mean that what SE pitched for last year, but then at the end of the season he said they weren't able to run many. I'm assuming it's because of personnel issues. Is one year going to make that big of a difference? Personally, I don't think so.
