Agree with the top five - those are the blue bloods. Texas and Michigan are not blue bloods. They are programs that have won consistently but are hardly ever elite. LSU is a lot close to Michigan and Texas, than those programs are to an Ohio State or Alabama.

Let's see: Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma, USC, Texas, Notre Dame, Michigan,Tennessee, Penn State,Nebraska. New kids on the block, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Miami. I'll take 9 all day.

It’s all relative!!! Think if LSU had Notre Dame-schedule the last 60 freaking years!!!!!

Lol, we literally have the #1 team in our conference!

LSU will move up to 8 after the Orgeron Era.

Anyone actually mad about this has only followed LSU football since 2001.

Nebraska hasn’t done shite in the last 20 years. They need to be taken off that list.

This is from 2016 lol

I actually care about these things and have thought a lot about them and I have no problem with nine. I’d also say we were at around 14 around 20 years ago so the trajectory is excellent.

Yeah, I can remember being so excited to even be included in the National Championship discussion 2003...especially after suffering through the Hallman years.

Michigan not in the top tier is weird to me. 9 is great. Theres a few behind us that could be ahead.
Wtf is aggie doing there?

I can't really argue with that, although Nebraska hasn't done anything in a while. We'll just have to start breaking through this year.

To say LSU isn’t a blue blood is assinine. There’s more than 8 blue bloods in college football period.
Nah man. If you ask a random college football fan from the middle of no where, what are the most historic winning programs....lsu ain't making most people's lists

If you're going to use historic relevancexl as the criteria, Minnesota and Yale should be bluebloods.
But it's also based on longevity. Those top 8 programs, save Nebraska, always seem to be at the top at least every 10-15 years. They never completely disappear off the radar.

My question is, if LSU can finish off this season with Burrow winning the Heisman and the Tigers winning the NC, does LSU deserve to jump Nebraska (#8) and/or Texas (#7) into blue bood territory?
I don't think so. Imo, a blue blood has nothing to do with how successful a program is right now. It's more about what they did in the past. It's the same programs that the media props up every year, or talks about how college football is better when so'n so is relevant.
It would have to be a number of years before LSU could break into that group
