Per @LSUbasketball, our valiant one-game effort in the SECT counts.

I feel for LSU’s hoops’ social media team

They don’t really have a choice but to try and hype up our dogshit program, and it’s a damned if you do, damned if you don’t thing

Definitely a weird gig when your team bottoms out.

Yeah, they are just pushing the message they are told. I do not have any ill will towards the tweeters.

I guess I don't understand how MM is still employed. Is there something we are all missing? He can't recruit, coach, or win.

Dumping more money for basketball NIL does what exactly. Who’s gonna come? They will end up wasting NIL dollars for average/below average players. Good/great players are going to a good program with a proven coach for similar NIL dollars. Go hire a proven high energy coach from somewhere else. That may bring some good players in.

Watching the Tournament with underfunded teams from small conferences stay competitive (or win if you're Will Wade) against teams from the the Power Conferences with all the money and resources, reminds me that Fat Scott blaming the sorry state of affairs of LSU basketball on a lack of money is a CROCK OF shite.

Until the big money people are willing to admit that there's a problem, nothing will change. LSU will probably not make the tournament again during this decade.

68 is too small of a number, they need to expand.

McMahon just needs 3 more years and then you’ll see…he will show you all!

Do you think Woodward actually approached those kind of donors to gage their willingness?

I do not. I can’t rule it out, but the timing of the McMahon back + NIL leak to the media cuts against that significantly.

How much more NIL does Vandy have than LSU? First year coach in the tourney and playing well…..

Multiple top 15 composite recruiting classes in 3 years means money hasn’t been the issue.

He lies alot though, yesterday he said said the same people arguing for rehiring Wade are the same people who used to say his teams play streetball. He’s a poisonous toad.

It also goes to show you how completely oblivious McMahon has been to the current state of college basketball. He's been trying to "build" LSU like Murray St used to build their teams...in a landscape that no longer exists. He's been allocating the majority of the NIL money to highly rated HS recruits with the plan to develop them over the course of 3, 4, 5 years...while everyone else is operating in the reality that everything is a year-to-year proposition. Who in the hell is redshirting healthy players who could be contributors these days? When he says he "now understands the importance of the transfer portal", he's telling you he just realized you can't build a program like you did at Murray St anymore. Unfortunately, that's about 3 years too late and he, in the process, has made LSU a less than desirable place for good transfers to consider.

Rick Pitino said a month ago he's unlikely to recruit HS players anymore because it's not worth the time and effort. He said "I probably never go to a young man’s home again. We just go straight to the negotiating table." That's why it took him exactly two years to take St. John's from perennial underachiever to Big East champs. It's how Wade took McNeese and made them a winner immediately. All why LSU's HC is spending all of the money in a HS kid's den telling him "if you work really hard, wait your turn, and eat your veggies, by the time you're a senior we will have a really great team", apparently not aware that guy likely won't be around after 2 years, let alone 4.
