Like others have said, he was born in captivity and could not survive outside of it.

Hanging out in his habitat is not the same as being in a trailer driving around while 100,000 people scream.

And he's an individual tiger. Doesn't matter what other tigers have done or will do. Is every dog of the same breed the same?

Are you kidding, dogs love getting in cars and going places. Mine runs to the door hoping I'm going to take him. I'm not sure how you treat your dog, but mine thinks we're going to the park or beach, lake, or Petsmart. I guess I'm different but I love taking him places with me.

He has a better habitat now than he'd have in 99% of the zoos. But the trailer business at games should end for good, with this Tiger and any future one. There's no need for it except to gratify ignoramuses.

Agreed though I wouldn't use such harsh words. Mike prowling around in his habitat for all to see if way better than keeping him inside all day trying to lure him into the trailer.

I mean...yeah, except for both the size of the cage and the fact that one suddenly surrounds him with 100,000 screaming fans.

Other than that, they're exactly the same.

BTW...what is the fricking point of doing that AT ALL if the cage is designed in such a way that literally NO ONE can actually see him unless they press their face up against the screen? Essentially, you're arguing that we need to force this animal we all love to do something he clearly does not want to do all so that no one can actually see him in there.

I swear, the vert school would be better served getting some Hollywood group to build a fricking animatronic Mike and stick him in there on gamedays and no one would know the difference...

Seems to me he's already about as retired as you can get.

Then we should look for a tiger that was born in a travel cage.

I don't have any pets, so I really didn't understand the earlier comment. It's all good.

Have a downvote

He is way better of where he is compared to a zoo and second off if you havent noticed he loves when people come see him...Taking him out of the habitat he is been in for 8-9 years will most definitely put him under stress

Let him move into a zoo or some other tiger habitat where he can spend his last years in peace. He needs a stress free environment

Plus, this gives them a chance to get Mike 7

You could have made a shorter post and said what you really wanted to. The first sentence of your post is total bullshite, but good try to play the sympathy card.

Your post could have read:
quote:

"Let's just get rid of Mike since he has cancer and get a new tiger."

He's been retired for two years. He hasn't been to a game in over two years.

LSU having the Vet school on site is much better than being anywhere else.

Let's leave this to the professionals.

(tough ask for some on this board, I know)

My opinion is consistent, I have no problem with him in a habitat, or circling the football field 6 times a year.

My opinion is consistent too. I have no problem with whatever Mike does or does not do.

You obviously have a hard time dealing with Mike not riding around the stadium. And it's silly and nonsensical.

It's his sole purpose for being on campus to start with. For families and kids to look at.

This is one of the more ridiculous logical leaps I've seen on here. Yeah, his $20M enclosure with a pool and a soundproof cave he can retreat to if he's stressed is no different than a 4x6' trailer surrounded by 100 thousand drunk screaming football fans. Maybe we should tie him up at the top of the indian mounds and let those kids throw shite at him, you know, since he's in captivity anyway. fricking retard.

Not really. The sole purpose of the Tiger being on campus is to be an exhibit. Part of being the "mascot" is carrying on the tradition of being driven around the field 6-7 times a year. Auburn flies an eagle around the stadium. Colorado runs a buffalo (or at least use to) on to the field. I'm not advocating hurting the damn thing, but what LSU wants to do with their tiger is not all that audacious.

I don't particularly care one way or the other. However, I don't think it's some ridiculous notion for LSU to want to briefly parade around what is for all intents and purposes a glorified pet.
