I just watched 2nd half of sugar bowl.
Oklahoma seems to consistently trot out qb after qb that puts up ridiculous numbers.

I wished LSU would focus a little less on DBU 6-0 185 athletes that we seem to bring in by the dozen and get some qbs that can produce like the Sooners always seem to get.
They'd sure be fun to watch and damn hard to beat.

Maybe some of these young guys we've recently landed can match OU qb play in the years ahead.

I get what you're saying. I used to believe LSU could win the SECW with the 'game manager' type QB, like many others.

With our competition in the SEC, including but not limited to Bama, I've jettisoned that and am now convinced we have to have that 'playmaker' QB.

Do not care if it's a Manziel that does so much with his legs, or a Mayfield that primarily creates time with his legs to give the passing game a boost... but it has to be someone who creates one way or the other. Either way, to win the West and the SEC regularly, I think that's what it is going to take.

That type of QB play is due to the coaching staff's ability to develop talent. I think Stoops and his staff could take Harris and have more success with him than we have had.

Lol. It is amazing how stupid some of you are. Bh doesn't have it upstairs and can't throw a short and easy pass accurately. Jesus Christ. Stop with bh. You are probably one of the people that thinks bh would be an all American under urban.

We will never know the answer to that.

Coaching in practice is one thing.
Having "it" when lights come on vs people that's not your teammates is another.
It's easy to blame coaching.
I'd blame recruiting. Size and measurables doesn't always tell the tale, especially at the qb position.
There's more to it.

they got to the cfp with j.t. barrett and cardele jones. it may not be too far fetched to believe that he couldn't do it with b. harris lol ijs.

If OU continues to trot out good QBs don't you think that might be more of a result of OU's system/approach to their QB? Conversely, if LSU continually has (had) poor QB play, wouldn't you think that's more of an LSU problem vs. just constant misses at the QB spot?

LSU has signed guys that many other big time programs also wanted. Unfortunately, Les did every opposing defense's job for them and continuously handcuffed his own QB.

Those days are over though!!!

So an underappreciated texas high school qb coming from a big texas high school in a state known for being spread and pass dependent?

Weve got ours. Justin McMillan. In fact as a state 6A champion senior he passed for more yards and touchdowns (and only 4 INTs) than Baker did as a senior. People need to quit writing him off. I will not be surprised if hes the starter next year

The words "Brandon Harris" should be filtered to appear as "******* *****"in this forum, never to be read again. He DOES NOT HAVE THE DEMEANOR NOR THE TALENT to be LSU's quarterback. So what if he's a nice guy.

Could not disagree more on the talent point. He quite obviously has enough talent to play the position. He has height. He has the arm. He has mobility. Don't know what more you want.

Maybe you mean skills, which are learned. Again, that's up to the staff and thus far we haven't had the staff that knows how to mold someone like him into at least a serviceable QB. He can thrive in the right system, I have no doubt about it.

I don't expect a top 10 offense or anything like that but if we can't get servicable play out of the QB position, meaning one guy has the position for the entire year and will not cost LSU games, I will consider that a coaching failure.

I agree the previous regime was atrocious as far as developing QBs goes, but that doesn't completely exonerate Harris of all sins. Mett was able to produce as he got better and better with more experience, Harris failed to show any signs of growth, some of that has to fall on the player himself.

How bout getting the team lined up correctly? That would be a start. Not shitting all over himself when things get tight would help too.

Harris does not have IT. Period. Glad he'll finish his career here but he had multiple chances to show something and didn't
