Well it will be hard for Mett to throw when he is on his back.

No, that doesn't matter, it doesn't matter if the WR get open or not or if the line blocks or not. Unless they successfully complete some unknown # of deep passes, then its because the coaches are bad play callers and stubborn.

We do not need to "air it out". We need to move the chains and pass just enough to make the defense honest. Take what the D gives you. If thats 6 yard slants and out routes so be it.

This. We need to be a run first, run second team...throw in some play action to keep a team honest. It seems like we are trying so hard to become a throw it down the field team at the expense of dominating the line of scrimmage.

Message Posted by TheDoc I have a feeling the play calling will be ultra conservative and Mett will only throw 17 times

Well we're averaging 432 yards a game and 203 of those are passing yards. If that's conservative, I guess I'm for it. Les is great at figuring out the right gameplan needed to get a W. Thats really all I care about. Our fans have been screaming "vertical passing game" for several years but we have just kept winning anyway. Watch for another W this weekend.

Define "Air it Out". Do you mean long slow developing routes? If so, dumb idea. Now a RB screen would get the DL and LBs to back off, if only we would run it.

Play action fakes will do wonders in the begining of the game

If we air it out we get beat. I think we come out with some spot passes along with other dinks and dunks then stretch the field as the game goes on.

How do you run play action when we never hand the ball off? It's always the toss. I don't see how it fools anyone to fake a handoff.

We do have a vertical passing game just not much of a intermediate one.

We hardly ever execute an actual handoff. Is the defense gonna buy it when we fake something that we hardly ever do? We handoff to Copeland (well, did ), but the HBs don't take handoffs. They catch tosses.

This. Although it was nice to see the TEs involved in the "back half" of the Towson game.

Agreed! Does anyone have a thought on why the TE's are not more involved in passing game (besides play calling). I do believe it depends on the flow of the game from a coaches viewpoint.

Although, if FL (or any other team) can not stop LSU from running the ball, keep ramming it down their throats.
