shutterspeed,
Don't agree with any backdooring in 2007. No team had a better record and better strength of schedule than LSU that year. If some other team than LSU made it then that would have been backdooring.

Yesterday was almost a perfect day for LSU.

LSU won, Ole Miss lost, Oregon lost, UCLA lost, Texas A&M lost

Still three more weeks of chaos left.

Just needed Texas to handle TCU and they couldn't pull it off

It's frustrating too because TCU is clearly a pretender to anyone watching

They'll slip a few $$ to the committee to make it happen.

There ain’t no way a 2-loss LSU is jumping USC. The media wouldn’t allow it.

A 2-loss SEC Champ is going to the playoff.

The SEC champion will NOT sit out of the playoffs.

People also forget that outside of Ohio St and Kansas, everyone that year had 2 losses.

And Kansas didn’t even make the Big 12 Title Game so there was no way the Fighting Mangino’s were getting in over anybody.

I agree with you that the SEC Champ should not be sitting out of the playoffs (if we "take care of business"), all you have to do is look at the strength of schedule; LSU is in the top 10 and that is before playing UGA while a team like Michigan is sitting at a SOS of 82. There are still a number of key games in the next 3 weeks that will make our path a lot clearer before the Dec. 3rd SEC Championship.

Projected CFP Top 10 this week and some key games:
1 Georgia 10-0 (plays LSU 12/3 SEC Championship)
2 Ohio State 10-0 (hosts Michigan 11/26)
3 Michigan 10-0 (@ Ohio St. 11/26)
4 TCU 10-0 (@ Baylor 11/19, possibly KSU 12/3)
5 Tennessee 9-1
6 LSU 8-2 (at A$M 11/26, UGA 12/3 SEC Championship)
7 USC 9-1 (plays UCLA 11/19, ND 11/26, PAC12 Champ 12/2)
8 Alabama 8-2
9 Clemson 9-1
10 Utah 8-2

Is there any other SEC team currently ranked that has played at least 4 CURRENTLY ranked football teams other than LSU?

Bama has played 5 teams that were ranked at the time they played (Ark, Tenn, Miss. St., LSU & Ole Miss) but only 3 teams that Bama played are ranked now. See their schedule at the link:
Bama Football Schedule 2022

Ole Miss has played 2 teams that are currently ranked and Tennessee has played 4 teams currently ranked (but Kentucky will drop out this week). If we were to beat UGA, that would be 3 wins over top 10 teams. No one has done that.

Right.. even though we lost a close one FSU has turned out ranked and of course Tenn. But at this point to still have 4 opponents in the rankings and us not only ranked but top 10 should speak volumes. Especially as to what the committee values in scheduling quality or name brand opponents week 1 vs. Cupcakes.

ETA: Kudos for GA and Bama for at least playing Oregon and UT but the rest of the field....

LSU will stay at 7. USC will move to 6. USC dominated a bad team and LSU barely got by a mediocre Arky with a 3rd string QB.

USC struggled for quite awhile against a bad team. What does a 3rd string QB have to do with anything? Our D was pretty dominant.

Yes, my TV guide shows the CFP Selection Show starting at 8 PM CT on ESPN (but it is between the two basketball games, so the time may fluctuate).

TN may have beat LSU, but if LSU beats the SEC EAST champion, they will be in the playoffs

Well, I see now that Chicken has started another CFP Ranking thread and anchored it, so everyone go there.
