As long as they don't touch the corn dogs. That would be going too far.

Personally, I think athletes should be paid, the existing rules are ridiculous

I'm totally against this. Most of these athletes wouldn't even sniff college if it weren't for their athletic scholarship. They're given a tremendous opportunity to make connections that will help them in life way beyond playing sports. Moreover, they have zero living expenses for 4-5 years (rent, food, clothes, etc) and are given a stipend on top of that. They live better than most college students. On top of that, they get one on one tutoring to make sure they stay in school...no one else gets this without paying for it. Athletes get plenty enough without getting "paid."

You sir, are absolutely correct. I agree with everything you said. Also, people seem to forget that LSU and very few other athletic departments actually turn a profit. I always hear the comments about how much the universities are making off of student athletes, yet 90% of universities lose money on athletics.

Chaz Ramsey also gets interviewed in the report. Any chance he admits he got paid for the Dorsey chop block.

This story is much more about Auburn. On Mike and Mike this morning they were saying that on Real Sports, one of the 4 Auburn players says that one of the Auburn coaches brings him an envelope with $3500 in it, to keep him from tranferring. This is all about the Cam Newton story.

Nothing will come of this for LSU. However, Auburn could be in trouble.

I think it's funny that 4 Auburn players would go on a show to rat out their former university. Just goes to show how good they treat their players.

LSU would never have guys go on an HBO show and rat out the school. Yes, I know there was that whole thing about the kid bashing on Miles publicly for oversigning, but this isn't near on the same level.

You have to take into consideration that three of these players have axes to grind against the school. Ramsey was just in a lawsuit because of a football injury and Gray never made it on the team.

That's why McClover's interview is the most damning. I think the party line for Auburn is that because he's getting money for the interview it's not legit. Hell if I know, this is damaging PR to say the least.

Yea, these players were definitely paid for the interviews. That is definitely worth noting.

This story will reignite the fire that cam newton started and Greg robinson and travon reed added fuel to. Auburn football isn't even the best program in their state. I think they just said we can't beat Alabama so let's buy the best team we can like the Fla marlins did or the az diamond backs. Auburn pays players I think auburn fans realize that, they have to cheat to compete. They cant match the history and winning tradition of the Alabama program. I am not a bama fan I hate Alabama. But I think auburn is tired of being second best In the state and the NCAA is so slow to do anything about it. Who cares if they vacate the trophy what does that really mean? Everyone saw them beat Oregon on national tv. You can't vacate peoples memories ?

After posting much of the story Footballrumormill posted that sources said McClover was pressured to alter his story to fit what HBO was producing.

McClover is washed out of pro football, and he needs money.

I must admit I am amused that Chaz Ramsey's POS face has made an appearance in all of this.

Yea,that would be a heckuva NCAA hearing.

Designated faculty rep from a mid-major type college,"While Mr. McGlover was being recruited by Louisiana State, who was the chancellor of your university ?"

LSU spokesman," Dr Mark Emmert, now the President of the NCAA."

He also claims that Auburn paid him money to play, but even his own teammates don't believe him?

Reddick implicates the coaches as well, saying that he was given money directly by a coach. He and Ramsey talk about the school giving them items to sell as well. Although it's not great for us, it looks a whole, whole, lot worse for Auburn and makes their Scam Newton fiasco look even more plausible and taints their program more than it was already.
