This year’s team is very inexperienced, so it should get better throughout the season. If we retain the youngsters and they develop as expected, get Reed back, and get a couple of decent transfers, then we may finally have a top half SEC roster next year. We may not even have to rely on the freshmen next year.

our starting lineup has 3 5th year seniors and a guy in his 4th season. this is just false

Much better OM team this year than last year. Beard went out and brought in three new starters from the portal. I don’t believe they are super talented as a whole but a blind msn can see they are very well coached and hustle their tails off.

A 9-9 conference record will get any and all SEC teams into the dance. That means all Ole Miss has to do from this point (3-0) is finish the conference schedule at 6-9. They are sitting in excellent shape to make the dance in Beard’s second year.

It has a couple seniors. Maybe in terms of playing together. Williams played 20 minutes a game last season on a .500 in conference team but can’t find the floor this one.
Look, I understand the mental space you are coming from. But you can have the team regress from middle of the pack in year 3 of the rebuild and expect a lot of support.

Bailey, Carter and Sears are experienced, but Collins has been hurt for most of his college career except his freshman year, in which he barely played. Except for Fountain, Carter, Sears and Bailey, all of the rest of the rotation are inexperienced against SEC talent (Chest, Collins, R Miller, V Miller, Givens), and Fountain is barely part of the rotation. Carter is very good, and Sears and Bailey are good players, but they should be more complimentary players. Reed was poised to be our centerpiece. Some of our inexperienced players have potential to be much more, but they need to develop a little more.

he has played in like 70 games. he is not inexperienced.

he also had multiple seasons to develop at ky. i think if there was some sort of hidden gem or untapped potential it would have blossomed by now. he is a solid player, but not a world beater like many here were hoping for. and that's fine.

i just think lack of experience is cope

Before this year, Collins’ experience against SEC talent was comparable to walk-ons, so he is inexperienced. But even if you think Collins has experience, our rotation is very inexperienced, and that matters. It doesn’t excuse everything, but it is a big factor in performance. We couldn’t afford to lose Reed, Ward, and then to have Williams disappear. Last year’s team may have been less talented, but they were much more experienced and had maximized their potential in college. Not all of our young players will improve, but I bet most will be much better after they gain experience against high level talent. IF CMM can retain the young players, they should be much better next year. Then we can pick up some complimentary transfers like Sears, Carter and Bailey to be competitive in the SEC. I even expect them to start showing more as they gain experience as this season progresses, but it may be too much to ask them to improve enough this year to make this year’s team competitive.

Lap I think everything you are saying is correct... In a vacuum.

Last year we said the same thing, "well look , we went 9-9 and are returning ward/Reed/Williams/fountain and bringing in a good class. If we can get a few portal guys we should be improved."

Well low and behold only 1 of the returning players is contributing. Ward left because he was passed up on the depth chart, Williams seemingly has been passed up, and fountain only plays in blow outs.

The reality is we don't know if these kids are returning, so imo it's just not worth thinking about next year anymore. If CMM had a decent track record here you could give him the benefit of the doubt but he's been way more bad than good at this point. Maybe he turns it around starting Tuesday? Then we can start having some hope. But until then I just can't see next year being worth a crap.

If we lose our 3 minute leaders and even if one of givens/VJ or chest transfer we basically are restarting with a new team once again for the 4th time under McMahon.

mark sears, johni broome, dalton knecht, grant nelson, etc. so many guys come in with 0 sec experience and make an impact on quality teams against quality competition. you are coping.

we are so fricked because sears, bailey, carter, fountain, and ward are gone. we are going to have to start from scratch AGAIN. and that's if no one else transfers out.

but here comes the copium again. we have signed a great recruiting class for 2025. top 15 with 3 top 100 players. but when we start losing it's "muh no talent" "muh no resources" "muh inexperience"

Exactly we were building something after year 2 but within took two weeks in the season for all that to end. Ward leaving and Williams not seeing the court.

So once again we have to hope all the freshman stay and we hit in the portal. Maybe that works next year, but this really isn't a way to build a program.

but people like TPK will tell you "we have no resources" "we can't recruit good enough players here"

because mazi mosley chose us over michigan and iowa for free.
jalen reece chose us over penn state, cincinatti, and dayton out of the kindness of his heart.
matt gilhool chose us over georgia and georgia tech out of selflesness.

people will look at this shite and tell you with a straight face these players aren't good enough to make the NCAAT and blame admin for not giving mcmahon enough "resources"

The experience is key (even RM3 is improving) but even bigger is all 3 true freshmen hitting the weight room this Summer. If CG3 can handle the point next year then we can have improved size at guard and obviously a stronger VJ and RM3 will help them.

Honestly, givens and R Miller already have decent muscle mass for their positions. V Miller on the other hand could probably stand to hit the weight room hard.

Ah yes, the renowned basketball savant that thought Darius days would’ve been better off transferring from lsu before his senior season has entered the chat.

And apparently he’s incapable of typing out any player’s name.

It’s not surprising you would rather people not remember the most stupid basketball commentary that has ever been posted on this website.
