The bunch formations are a staple of Sean Payton’s Saints offense. Brady is taking it and implementing it in LSU’s offense. It’s works damn well and will do wonders once we get better running them. It creates confusion and causes the busted assignments that gets the offense wide open touchdowns. You see it all the time with the Saints and it worked to perfection for LSU in creating that coverage bust that got us our wide open touchdown.

And I am getting the feeling that Ensminger & Brady aren't too happy about it either. That this experiment is being forced on them by someone else.

Own what you said. Who in the hell else would you be implying is forcing this on them? There is only one person left that they both answer to.

never noticed in other games that the offense would look to the sideline for a call. seemed to disrupt the flow of a fast paced offense.

Well they definitely did that in other games

They have done this in every game, some more than others.

What is the fascination with the offense going at warp speed? We are still 100% in the redzone whether its fast or slow

Agree. The benefits of the 10K Summer jugs reps don't last forever. They need daily reps throughout the season as ell.

My god you're an idiot

I hope that if you had any remaining supporters on this site that this thread ended that.

I’m pretty sure Coach O said during the halftime interview that he wanted his defense to see what it was like when the O wasn’t scoring at will. I think he purposefully dumbed down the O early on in the game to see how the defense would respond. That was not the same offense we had been watching all season.

So the NFL elite who are getting 200 jugs reps a day all year around are wasting their time? Those 70 to 75K a year are not needed. Just do 10K and you're good for a few years?

Really... THAT's your insight?

Underrated post. I'm sure Buckeye Second Cousin conveniently skipped over, along with mine and others.

The best part of this thread is that Suckeye is convinced that someone other than Joe Brady, you know... the guy who came from the Saints, must have put in these hideous bunch formations.

Still no response to clearly insinuating that O is the one forcing this on Brady and E and then denying it?

Do you even know what a "bunch" set is? There were 2 the entire time Burrow played in the Miss St game.

My objection was 19 "tight" formations - which are essentially max protect formations.

Joe can find the open guy in under 2.5 seconds. He doesn't need max protect. He needs 4 & 5 receivers flooding the DBs.

Orgeron addressed this in this afternoons presser. He said he addressed it with Brady and E this morning. And will try to get Burrow 5 receivers instead of extra blockers.

I think whoever forced it was well-meaning, but the overkill of tight formations flopped, and from Orgeron's presser, I think we've seen the last of the gross overuse of them.

You DO NOT need max protect tight formations with Burrow at QB. Take a look at his completion rate against the blitz - its off the charts. Leads the SEC at 64% completions against pressure. Second is 57%.

Ok, so if they're rushing 6 and we block with 5, you do understand that a man unblocked to the QB is not taking 2.5 sec right? Great way to get Burrow injured. Glad you aren't in charge. We had success running tight, and bunch allows you the empty space to use speed and traffic to gain separation from DB's. Dropped pass, missed penalty turned 14 into 6, not the formation. Brady definitely called these plays, as it is a staple of the Saints playbook.

It’s fricking E getting sick of hearing about the new young guy and decided to call what he wanted, saw nothing but field goals, and put away his pride and started calling the young guy’s plays.

You do understand that Burrow is mobile, right. And in a blitz situation, JB doesn't need 2.5. He can get rid of it in far less than that, and he can step up, or side step, or scramble with the best of them.

Take a look at what happened at 1:44 of the second qtr, when they finally quit using the "tight" and went to 5-wide and 4-wide... 5 plays for 55 yards and a TD in 54 seconds.

EVERYBODY bitched like hell at E's Max protect last season... Now it's their very favorite.
