If you start the season you finish it.

If you opt out do it before the season

My point was that that is EXACTLY what LSU (and other schools) do to those committed recruits when, a week before signing day, they tell them “we don’t have a spot for you”.

While there's truth to that statement, these are the player's that did receive scholly's.
They should finish the season they did receive a scholly for.

Maybe the 2 stars would have finished the season and been greatful for the scholly.

Are the 5 stars the only players that could contract covid?
I guess the more recruiting stars, the weaker the immune system.

This is college sports jug head, not the friggin NFL. You act like we are running a slave plantation here. College means free education which means a hell of a good deal. Take your getto shite somewhere else.

It is quitting.

Regardless if you agree or understand their reasons.. it's still quitting.

Uncle Lou (I know.. ) actually made a video about this. And I agree with him for the most part.

I also don’t fault a 19 year old kid for quitting to guarantee a few million dollars on draft day.

Don't count that money just yet. I think there are a few opt outs that are in for rude awakening. Two big reasons: 1) Guys that decided to lace up their shoes and play absolutely balled out and passed them on the draft boards and 2) GM's may very well start taking a look at who quit and who didn't.

The best predictor of future behavior is relevant past behavior. A quitter, is a quitter, is a quitter.

As soon as they say they are not finishing the year, all aid should stop. If they care about nothing but the NFL, they should find somewhere else to get their training.

Not going to disagree but some of these players have nothing and see 7 figures and do not want to risk it.

I think guys like KV, Shelvin and initially Farrell did it for legit health reasons

It was a business decision for Chase and Marshall. The optics are poor but i get why they did it.

I don’t think it’s going to become a trend maybe outside of the truly 5-10 ELITE prospects each year. Opting out of bowl games looks like its here to stay tho

Couldn’t disagree more. This is just the beginning. I fully expect Sting to opt out next year. He kinda already did this year. That’s that’s they way things are going nowadays and LSU players seem to lead the way.

If LSU tells a committed recruit they offered a scholarship to to “look elsewhere” then LSU is “quitting” too.

These threads are ridiculous and should be removed for ignorance and redundancy.

Downvote this if you want but I’m 100% correct. If it’s good for LSU to do it to players, then it’s good for the players to do it to LSU.

Take your butthurt bullshite and stick it up your arse.

How is this analogous to players opting out? LSU does not tell players to kick rocks mid-season. Better to remain silent and have people think you are dumb...

But what’s the penalty for it? If someone with a pro career to consider opts out, he should be more than able to reimburse the school for the scholarship. It’s like thinking that demanding payment of that coke you just left with will deter you from getting it.

It to mention that such a policy would hurt recruiting unless it’s a NCAA-wide policy.

I don’t. Could be wrong of course but that doesn’t seem like his dna. We’ll see

Link? He got hurt by a down and distance marker TWICE and by friendly fire once. He couldn’t go the last two games. By the end of the season they were being extra cautious with injured players, even minor injuries (see Emery) He was with the team the whole time.

Not one player in the history of college football was forced to play. They all made a choice to play

It will never be NCAA policy.

This would end the NCAA.

Those kids chose LSU, you should be happy they're there, because they could have gone almost anywhere. As far as reimbursement? They earned every dime of that scholarship. LSU makes about $400K per kid, per year. They should be far more worried about burning $7M on Pelini and whatever they spent to get rid of Miles and Canada.

Ben can talk tough, but given that he spent about 90% of his career planted on his arse away from the actual athletes on his team and the other 10% planted in one place to throw a ball hard, maybe he should tone it down a bit. It takes more athleticism to play golf than be a pitcher.

Then don't accept the shite scholarship nor play for said shite organization.

And yet, your opinion means more than someone who's actually been in the battles?

Ben played all (3) Sports (and excelled) in HS too. I think he's earned the right to speak.
