Probably just a worst case scenario. But Ohio St got busted for the cover-up way more than anything else.

Best to get it out there, and get it over with.

I wish he had never made that damn catch vs Dallas. He’s been nothing but an attention whore ever since that night.

Thank goodness Alleva is gone, Woody is needed for BS like this.

Alleva would have already vacated 2019 season and handed all the trophies back.

Especially if they can determine it was returned. I can't see how any returning player would keep the money.

You’d like to think they had the sense not to, but here’s my concern: Imagine being that age and partying with a millionaire pro athlete in NOLA.. I can think of quite a few ways that money could have been spent within 2-3 hours.

Also it would still be against NCAA rules even for the players who are not returning, as they are still student athletes until they declare. No impact to the players obviously, but I’m not sure if the NCAA would choose to hit the program. Seems like the upside is that it happened after the game so you don’t have to worry about any potential ineligibility DURING the game. But if he was doing it on the sidelines before they even did the fricking trophy ceremony.. who knows.

My guess is that our compliance department resolves this quickly and we move on. For once this is what they are paid to do...

I don’t really care. frick the NCAA. These players should be able to get all the god damn money they can.

This isn’t the argument. You’re completely missing the point.

That’s really all that needs to happen IMO, along with accounting for and recouping the money.

Absolutely terrible judgement on his part, but I think people are going a little overboard with wanting LSU to cut ties with him.

LSU compliance: "Beckham gave you cash."

LSU player: "I don't know what you're talking about."

LSU compliance: "We have it on video."

LSU player: "Oh yeah, he gave me 5 bucks. Here you go."

well they just need to determine how much he gave up and get it all back then. seems like the easiest solution.

it was really a silly act. i wouldn't have a problem with it if he cleared it ahead of time and it was recorded as proof they weren't keeping it. or as originally thought, use fake money.

i have no idea how a former college athlete could think that was okay, but he definitely seemed drunk.

Jimmie Kimmel blew the lid off this thing last night on national TV. He had extreme close-ups of the money, plus a photo of OBJ posing with Chase and Jefferson's jerseys.

When Ohio State got busted, it was more for lying about the infractions than the infractions themselves.

Give the money back, take a 2 or 3 game suspension for a player or two, and move on. Not that big a deal.

I have little faith in Woodward to resolve this quickly. The video came out Monday night and he should have been working since then to round up all the players and money. The BS "fake money" story was never going to stick and it was stupid to put it out there.

Considering that Reggie Bush is still not allowed contact with USC athletic folks could that kind of ban come OBJs way? OR might LSU offer that up to spare players who were sadly in the wrong place at the wrong time. The players were in the moment and had a good excuse for not thinking through what OBJ was doing. OBJ has no good excuse.

Yea, but I heard on around the horn there was fake money scattered on the field so LSU can take that angle that that was what was reported and now further investigating.

I can't believe how many dumbass people are saying no big deal - nothing will come of it. Paying players is against NCAA rules. OBJ may be a former player but he is now considered a booster also. Anyone ever hear of a school getting in trouble for a booster giving out cash handshakes or paying jobs that the player never showed up at but still got paid. Another a big concern to me is the black eye it gave LSU on national tv and all the media outlets. This has got to be one of the dumbest stunts anyone has ever pulled. You can bet your house the NCAA will investigate it - they are forced to because of all the publicity.
