Steadier catching would mean a lot to these young flame throwers

LSU is dead last in the SEC in pitching

I said a few wks ago that LSU has scored enough runs to win many more games but the poor pitching and the poor fielding cannot be overcome right now.

These two stats are synergistic. Good fielding gets you out of some bad pitching but the two combined are multipliers of bad.

The pitching has got to get way way better.

I'm not shocked...Stevie Wonder could see that one coming! I've been bitchin' about pitching for most of the last few months. Is it that Jay went from being a great judge of talent to being totally clueless? There are 3 or 4 pitchers on staff that could be cut tomorrow and we wouldn't miss them at all. Seems most of them were projects that never materialized.

It would have to be ERA. But, I personally don’t think that is the best statistical metric for effective pitching. I think the two numbers to focus on is walk/strike outs (226/546) and hits/innings (346/397) pitched. Opposition BA is .281. To me, it’s too many walks but more problematic is giving up hits once we walk or give a free pass. The biggest problem is too many balls early in counts. Especially after a walk. The fix is getting strike one on the first pitch. Hard to do but just that would improve our chances to win, big time.

We also have the fewest players on their basketball roster......LSU!!

Who cares? It’s basketball.

For the 12 of you who do care, maybe that new coach can have his wife start funding some of his trademark “strong assed offers” to build it out.

It’s becoming apparent the talent of Anderson and Eyanson overcame Yeskie.

Is it? Based on a month of minor league play and a partial season for LSU?

I guess when we had a top 5 pitching staff the year before that it was all Jump and Holman right

If being critical of coaching that has LSU 6-15 in the SEC makes one a troll so be it.

Oh crap, I responded to a pumper who accepts putrid results with glee.
