LBU: Who's currently producing the best linebackers?

quote:

Each NFL Draft pick produced received a point value: Seven points for a first rounder, one point for a seventh rounder and the correlating point value for every round in between.

quote:

1. LSU
Points: 35 Draft picks: 6 Patrick Queen is the latest first rounder for the Tigers and he represents the new-age linebacker. Undersized by the old school standards, but elite athletically, Queen waited his turn at LSU before breaking out as a senior. Ironically, Queen was balanced out in the 2020 draft by a more traditional linebacker body type and skillset in Jacob Phillips. Devin White was a first-rounder in 2020, going fifth overall to Tampa Bay. Second-rounder Deion Jones (2016) and third-rounders Duke Riley (2017) and Kendell Beckwith (2017) also all were drafted within the first three rounds. LSU has managed to find a way to balance the physicality of the linebacker position with the new premium being placed on athleticism. White arrived as a 260-pound running back. Queen arrived as a 190-pound athlete. Both left as Round 1 picks. There’s also an ability to develop and identify as opposed to simply out-recruit. Both Riley and Jones were 247Sports Composite three-stars coming out of high school.

Others on the list - tOSU, Bama, UF, Mich and Clemson

With this much talent @ linebacker, not one was even looked at by the Saints. Don't even get me started with our DBU talent.

They were looked at, and the Saints chose someone else. Those advocating for the Saints to pay special attention to LSU are clueless.

Na

We’re just fricking tired of watching LSU tigers standout in the league while we have fricking AJ Klein starting meaningful games for our team

There's objectively a happy medium, I know Id like them to take every lsu guy but that's not possible, however, it seems like EVERY OTHER frickING TEAM is taking lsu players like crazy, and there doing well, and it's hard to argue anymore that the Saints aren't avoiding them and that's really fricking frustrating

Honestly, Alabama hold that distinction but LSU is rising at LB position.

Surprised Bama isn't #1 in this but it's based on a fairly objective scale.

IDGAF what "U" LSU is as long as we keep winning Natty's. I truly couldn't care less.

Today we’re taking a look at off-the-ball linebackers (edge rushers will be included with defensive ends) by studying the results of the last five NFL Drafts.

"Looked @" is a metaphor. while the saints excel on offense, their defense is lagging with sub par DBs and LBs. Need I say more?

Saints seem to like a lot of northern players and seem to horribly evaluate LSU players. You have to wonder if there is a bias considering all the positions of need the Saints have had over the years and they've taken none of the good LSU players at those positions. I mean of all the LSU players to draft over the last 5 years, they drafted Al Woods??? Yeah I know they drafted Clapp, but that's 7th round, so who cares.

The amount of pro bowlers to come out of LSU the last decade, dwarfs like 90% of schools.

CB Peterson 8 pro bowls 3 All Pros
WR Landry 5 pro bowls (most receptions in first 6 years of any WR of all time)
OG Turner 5 pro bowls (pro bowler 5 years straight)
WR Beckham 3 pro bowls (fastest to 5000 yards than any WR in NFL history and was injured a lot)
S Adams 2 pro bowls 1 All Pro
DE Hunter 2 pro bowls (most sacks before 25 years old, and youngest to 50 sacks in NFL history)
DB Mathieu 1 pro bowls 2 All Pros
CB Tre White 1 pro bowl 1 All Pro
LB Alexander, WR DJ Chark, LB Debo Jones, S Eric Reid, all with 1 pro bowl

The vast majority of these players came out in a 5 year span (2014-2018).

He's going by the past 5 years, you know, relevant time frame, and that is the exact time frame in which LSU has become LBU. It also doesn't look to stop with the possibility of Jabril Cox, and Stevens (LB/S) next year.

If you think Purdue is still QBU, then you have your answer.
