That’s really big news if true
He can be a game-changer

What ever gave you that idea?
Has there ever been an LSU athlete with more hype and less production.
I hope for his sake he has a great year and is a high draft choice.

Disappointment.
Relative to expectations for a 5 star RB recruit? Yes.
Total disappointment? No.
He's had some big moments in important games. Most notably vs Auburn and Alabama last season. The problem is those moments and flashes have been few and far between.
Williams was a rock in terms of reliability last season.
Cain gave you solid carries when given a chance
It feels like the staff liked Goodwin...until injuries made him a non-factor.
All three of those guys are back this season, along with a solid proven commodity in Diggs and two highly rated Freshmen RBs. Emery has always had the potential to be a game breaking RB. Probably moreso than any of the players listed above. But his career can be described in two words: Unreliable and inconsistent. With so many guys at the position this season I think Kelly hopes this is the year Emery puts it altogether. But he's not relying on it and probably isn't concerned if it doesn't happen because 4 years of data says it is unlikely to occur.
That's not unfairly dogging the kid. Just reality.

That TD against Bama was impressive.

Man, the 2020 and 2021 recruiting efforts at RB was putrid. After TDP and Emery in the 2019 class, we signed Bradford in 2020 who was basically leftover in Texas after the Texas schools and the SEC powers were done at RB, then in 2021 it was Goodwin who only signed after AU backed off of with the knee injury and Kiner who Ohio State had no interest in.
Hopefully Coach Frank turned things around with Jackson and Holly, but when you have anemic RB classes 2 years in a row, that's how you end up with your RB room being a walk-on, 2 transfers and Emery.

If Emery is in shape and at full performance, he can be the best RB in the SEC.

Cain is a pretty good back.

Need him bigly. It's now or never to show feature-back stuff.

It feels like we've been saying breakout season for 20 years now.

Correct- could never beat out Hilliard.

Hilliard is an unappreciated back by a lot of fans on here.
