Didn't realize that. That is very interesting setup. Will be a great weekend to watch baseball.
In Jay's press conference he seems like he questioned his scheduling this season. Doesn't sound like he will cram 2 4 game weekends to start the season again.

Kling prob has too much swing & miss.
But has been on base 6x in 3 games(2hbp/2bb). That’s a work-around if his swing & Miss patterns hold up.
Cause I do believe he will hit for some power. & they should honestly cut him loose on the bases. He can be a menace in other ways as well as playing a ++ CF

Agree. People put too much into batting avg when the stats that really matter is OBP and SLG for a team to succeed. Kling has not had the greatest avg in the fall and spring but he has been one of the top on the team when it comes to OBP.

Moneyball died out. He's got to hit. Braswell gets a little more wiggle room because of his position if he can be a + fielder, but CF is an offensive position now. Same for Pearson in OF or 2nd. The days of the defenseive 2nd baseman are over
ETA: strictly talking about at the next level.

I hate the term, but I know what you are trying to say. But No it hasn’t. You probably don’t understand it tho.

Kling’s diving catch in left centerfield on Saturday saved one run for certain and possibly two.
We won 2-0.

Oh boy here we go. You forgot to throw in a "you don't know baseball".
Braswell had an OBP of 375 last season, and JJ is trying to get him to lift the ball for power, which usually decreases OBP.
MLB had to change the rules to bring the steal back. Strikeouts and homers are way up.
2 years ago OBP in MLB was lower than its been in 50 years.
But sure thing, I don't undertand it

Cool. He helped win 1 game with his glove out of 3 tries. Goes well with your "he hit a double yesterday" comment.

Don’t you recall the quote, “I pay you to get on first base, not to get thrown out at second.”
Moneyball =/= small ball

You say move Brown to CF, but Brown, Milam, or Frey haven't proven they can hit SEC pitching the same way you are saying Kling couldn't.
To be fair, neither have Jones, Braswell, Neal or Kling.

And Pearson took a step back last year

I don't know that he is, but he has everything you want a CF to have defensively, he's only missing the bat (so far). To play CF at the MLB level now you are almost always going to be expected to hit for average or power, or both

Meh, we saw Pearson be one of our better hitters in the postseason. He's showed he can hit when it matters most and from the left side.

I just fact checked this & it’s wrong. So not sure where we go from here.
Baseball is quite simple. The object is to score runs. And the most basic principle to scoring runs starts with getting on base. The second basic fundamental principle that lends itself to scoring runs is XBH’s. You seem to think they are contradictory but that is not always the case.

But can he get back to sustaining it? I get that that's what makes greats great and he's shown that he's capable of doing it over an entire season, but it's hard to count on someone getting on a streak at the right time

Find me a year lower than the .312 OBP from 2022 leaguewide since 1971. Also look how much it has dropped since the prime "moneyball" years of the early 2000's

Sure, but of aforementioned players, Pearson is probably the best bet of the bunch considering that we have data of success. Can't say the same about the others yet.
For example, it's awesome that Jared Jones is beating the shite out of baseballs right now. But he was doing this at this time last year too. We won't really know if he has truly improved his approach at the plate or not until we get to SEC play.

Not sure what point you are trying to make, because that .312 definitely looks like the anomaly of the bunch compared to prior years.
