The only real major thing to come out of today is putting us under the 5 year umbrella. We better be squeaky clean from now on.

I noted TWO major things per this investigation:

1. Probation sucks. We can't even slip up once. And, we had the longest running streak of non-probation in the SEC (minus Vandy).

2. We get 85 scholarships this year! LSU previously reported that it would be reduced to 83. They gave us two back (kinda).

Is the title of this thread wrong? I'm pretty sure we have a 5 year probation.

In the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), a show-cause penalty is an order saying that a coach involved in major rules violations at a university's athletic program may not be hired by any other NCAA member institutions without permission from the Infractions Committee for a set period of time

1 year probation. Ohio St. is suggesting only 2 years probation to the NCAA for what they did.

Just to clarify about the meaning of probation. It doesn't affect post season, bowl games, etc. It just means that the NCAA will be living in our jock straps for the next 12 months and we'll be under the "umbrella" for 5 years. Is that correct?

I listened to the teleconference. Man was that "Chairman" an idiot and those two women on with him sounded like a couple of communication majors from Vanderbilt. This is sad if this is what is running the NCAA. I thought the probation was ridiculous. LSU did everything right.

The other schools will use this against us....big time!

As I understand it, that is correct. Minimal damage done, just no slip ups again guys

Assuming we don't commit a violation while on probation, we actually came out better AFTER the penalty..good job LSU compliance

This may seem like a stupid question, so please don't kill me.

Probation =/= post-season ban, correct?

If the Patrick Peterson recruitment stuff comes out while LSU is on probation, does that fall within the umbrella, or is that not counted against your probation, as it happened some time ago?

There is no post-season ban. We goin to the 'ship!

Basically, there are no penalties going forward...other than the probation and keeping our noses clean.
