It’s hard to pinpoint a pitching coach’s direct impact on a staff, but Chris Archer said a few weeks ago that the Twins’ scouting reports are “the best he’s ever seen.”

Save for 2021, there were a lot of positives in Wes Johnson’s Twins tenure.

Source: There had not been a request from Wes Johnson to the #MNTwins for more money. Team asked what might make job more appealing. LSU was very aggressive in the process.

Nah, nobody wants to move to BR. He wants to move to Alex Box and help build a college baseball monster.

I think it’s pretty clear we’re going all in to win the whole fricking thing next year.

We need a Jay swinging dick gif and a gif of Jay’s head on Vince McMahon’s ring entrance

I’d say this is a homerun hire. Haven’t seen opposing fans talk about any other hire like this in a long time. Below are quotes from Hawgville
quote:

“But on the topic of Wes Johnson - how the hell did LSU do this...an mlb pitching coach from a team first in the division, mid season?”

“They just landed the best pitching coach in the country. He was a director with the Twins as well. The MLB guys are stunned.”

“Damn wish we had offered 3x then. This is definitely a problem.”

“Wes is an Arkansas guy. This one hurts”

“The only positive thing I see here for Arkansas is at least he is returning to the college game... which means he could someday take over our program when DVH retires. I wasn't sure we'd ever see him leave the pros once he got there.”

“He's the most dynamic coach I've ever seen in baseball. Literally every pitcher will run through a wall for him. He's a better version of Vitello.”

“Just hired Wes Johnson as their pitching coach. They are unfortunately crushing this off-season.”

“That's a problem. Much bigger problem than their portal recruiting.”

“Blockbuster hire to say the least. Jealous on this one.”

“Damn.. I wanted Wes to come back home..”

Wes is a good friend of mine. We go back to his days as a high school coach at Abundant Life Academy in Little Rock. We coached together for a couple years. Great guy and his throwing programs are top-notch. Also, kids love him!

Holy shite, this is huge. I wanted Ostrander, but I didn’t know a hire like this was even remotely possible.

Better check again.

Just talked to my buddy whose son pitched for Wes at Arky and is currently on staff there. He said Wes has been telling him for a while he was ready to get back to college.

Pitchers will want to come and pitch for this guy.

Since when has Vitello ever been a pitching coach?

To my knowledge he has always been a hitting coach and recruiting coordinator before becoming a HC.

For those that are asking why he came, he’s getting 500k a year from us and was making 350k with the twins . Plus he’s probably looking to get a head job im college after a few years

The athletic article by the twins beat writers said 750k, which is a large number.
