Olsen’s exact role is to be determined, but he brings experience as a special teams coordinator and a defensive assistant.

ughhh. can you imagine being a Mizzou fan right now though? best season in their history? they're rewarded with a sugar bowl trophy and losing some coaches.

Weird though, they have 2 unclaimed national championships. did not know that.

I wonder if Mizzou had any idea they’d become a farm team for LSU when they joined the SEC?

LSU even brought the Heisman winning QB and #1 off. to play at their stadium so the fans could enjoy the show. It reminds me of how the Yankees use to come down and play a game or two at Grambling.

Everyone in the SEC hates the others so lace them up and stomp some pride out of them all.

Nah. Just an HC realizing how important it is to have coaches with local/regional ties on the staff. Look at LSU’s recruiting class. 30 signees/commits. Only 4 are from states other than Louisiana and Texas.

The abundance of regional talent has ALWAYS been LSU’s biggest advantage. Now, with both A&M and Texas in the SEC, BK needs to make sure he can continue getting that regional talent.

Does being in the SEC really change anything regarding who schools recruit? I think Texas and AtM were probably always trying to get the best players in the region. It's not like they suddenly started competing with LSU in recruiting because they joined the SEC.

Actually, all these coaches were at LSU first so it would be more accurate to say it was LSU North while they were there.

I was hoping that our next ST coach would be a Frank Beamer protege'. Beamer Ball was the most exciting ST play I've ever seen. Blocked punts all the time and ran back punts.
BTW, anyone have any idea why in today's college game, there are very few punts or kickoffs returned for TD's. I feel like it must be some rule change that makes it more difficult, but I can't put my finger on it. Anyone know why?
I want Beamer Ball on ST!!! Hope Olson does also!

Rule change for punts. It used to be where only the Gunners could cover before the ball was punted. New rule is EVERYONE can cover the punt and now you have these new wave punters that takes 3-4 steps before punting to let the coverage team get down field.

Kickoffs were said to be a safety type rule so they move the ball up to the 35 where now all the kicks are to the back of the endzone.

I like them too...as someone from NOLA, I was able to keep up with Coach Fritz and team, they were really well coached - smart / intense football.

Coach Kelly is going this route.

He messed up big time but he fixed it, minus Bo Davis who is a legend, the others are just new to the average fan, but flat out good coaches.

Never would have imagined LSU would be raiding Missouri for coaches.

Obviously Kelly received the approval and budget from Woodward to go out and hire these new coaches and at top dollar. I guess Woodward is making a bet that LSU will make the playoffs and paying top dollar for coaches is worth it because the playoffs come with big revenue streams into the LSU football program. I have to believe that is part of Woodward's thinking.
