Why does this matter?
Preseason polls are pure conjecture.
This is proven true every season. Someone comes out of nowhere or some highly ranked team crashes.
No one knows how the Tigers will fare until we see how the offense performs. We have question marks about the scheme, WR, OL, RB and Qb. I am cautiously optimistic that it will work out.

While that certainly has an impact, you are just being silly if you don’t think Coach O, Coach E, and the embarrassing losses from last season don’t have an impact as well.
This will be the first time since 2000 that LSU hasn’t been ranked in the top 20 of a preseason poll. Preseason polls might not add any points in the football games that you have to play, but they certainly are a valid estimation of where our football program stands in the national perception and that perception has taken a noticeable hit as of late. For any of us to try to cover that up or deny it, is simply a Pollyanna type thought process. imo

Lsu is ranked in both the ap and coaches poll, and is currently a 2.5 underdog to a top 10 team on a neutral site. That pointspread says a lot. Lsu is where they should be. With zero returning production offensively, a new OC and new ol coach, that's a fair ranking. Most analyst don't know the details like we do, or care. SOMEBODY knows something with that point spread.
