People here aren't going to like this, but 4-7 Florida being moved up illustrates the bump teams get from coaching.

Outside of the top 5 or 7, the pre-season ranking is basically popularity contest used to drive up TV ratings due to people longing for the season to start. Where we finish in the polls is much more important, obviously.

If LSU was ranked in the top 10 of these polls, these same people would be talking about how well respected this team is and so on. But, since they aren't, these are the responses.
Personally, I couldn't care less where they start. It matters where they finish in the polls.

It’s hilarious that people think not being ranked is no big deal. If you don’t understand the perception of the current program and how big of a deal that can be I can’t help you.
Now there are always a few unranked teams that suprise and end up top 15. But being unranked is not a good thing and is another sign in how little people expect of our program.
Course now the morons can say how O met expectations since we weren’t even ranked to start the year.
