I’m still a huge Ben Simmons fan.

He was a great player just not LeBron James.

He’s a good second banana. Needs to be paired with an elite shooter who can stretch the floor and create space

Key word in your question. Only the coach carries a win/loss record in college basketball.

If Will Wade is our coach in 2015- 2016 season, what is our record? We went 19-14

The college game also stifled his strengths and exposed his shooting woes. Teams could just sit in a zone and clog the lane. They can’t do that in the NBA and he’s flourishing.

exactly - he can't shoot a lick. He's a career 57% shooter from the free throw line. By comparison, Shaq shot 53% from the line.

Yes, he's a great ball handler and passer, and scores well in transition, but he's got no real offensive game once he's about 8 feet from the hoop.

And honestly he does a lot of things well enough that he can still be an allstar with no jump shot.

Which maybe he’ll develop down the road. Blake Griffin is all of a sudden shooting 6 3s a game and making almost 1/3.

this is true. I know the NBA rules don't allow it, but if I were an opposing coach, I wouldn't engage Simmons until was 10 feet from the hoop. Just sag WAY off, because he's no threat beyond 10 feet or so.

But the NBA rules don't permit that, so defenders have to get out on him and he's got great athleticism to beat his man off the dribble. But I bet he almost never pulls up for a 15 footer.

Last year, Ben only attempted 11 3-pointers (made zero). This year, he's attempted zero 3-pointers.

He's got serious skills, but his offensive game, 10 feet from the bucket, is severely limited.

A lot of career All Stars and great players had holes in their games and improved on them as their career progresses. There are very, very few players that are complete players in their first few years in the league.

Blake Griffin had a shot when he entered the league. His rookie year, he shot 29% on 3-pointers. Yes, he's now improved that to 36%, but he started his career with a good jumper.

Ben has zero jump shot ability. And I mean ZERO. Can he improve - sure, but it's highly doubtful he's be able to develop a good long-range jumper with starting from absolute zero.

Ben says “Old War Skule “, WTF is that ? You taking about that shithole I wasted seven months at?

An “ LSU great “ is a guy who reveres his LSU experience- like Shaq or Patrick Peterson or Jacob Hester or Warren Morris . Ben is a great player. He was great at LSU . I’m sure he’s a good dude. But he doesn’t claim LSU. We were mandatory. That’s it.

He started his career taking 24 3 in a season and making 7.

He wasn’t exactly good.

Then he made 2 his second season.

It’ he made 111 in 2017.

Clearly it’s something he’s improved.

The Rodman First 100 games is an idiotic comparison. Rodman did not become a rebound machine until later in his career.

Not a knock on Ben, but that comparison is stupid.

I don’t care what anyone says, I root for Ben Simmons a lot, and am a big fan. I’m happy he went to LSU. He’s a Hall or Fame
Type of guy.

Can't wait for the game highlights when he airballs a four foot jump shot.

sure, but most ball handlers can at least shoot a little when they come into the league.

Even Rajon Rondo, another PG who can't shoot (60% career FT) is a 31% career 3-point shooter.
