when would construction on this start/finish?

She went to bed already. I didn't ask her any details (not sure if she knows) because I was assuming the other info in this thread was fairly accurate.

I couldn't believe she knew about this and didn't say anything before. She teaches their kids and he said they were moving to BR regardless of getting this new LSU job. Apparently doing the EU got them a lot of BR area business and it just makes more sense to live there.

I'll try to remember to ask her tomorrow.

i dont know about airflow at Bryant Denny, but the reason the UD endzones are not connected is because the UD endzones go higher than the sideline UD. the seats in the top corners of the endzones would have a view of the roofs of the sideline UD.

Even with a new higher endzone the grass will still have plenty of sun. Keep in mind there are golf courses all over the country that have thick green grass that is under trees in large portions. If you get 7-8 hours of direct sun that's all you need. There's no way the upper decks are so tall that they will cast shadows for that length of time. That was just an excuse for very poor turf management over the years. This year however they seemed to get it right, good turf (Celebration Bermuda) and good weather and perhaps good management.

It might be a 2-phase project.

1. Install suites/club to mirror the East and West

2. Add and upper deck
from my understanding from past discussions with some people involved, it would be more suites than seats

This is correct. The main reason this is even being thought about is primarily to add boxes.

That comes from someone in the know...

I'm excited for this. I do agree improvements need to be made, but the photos look impressive.

South Stadium might actually have to be moved a little south to prvent that stadium from going out over the roadway

now if this is where the new parking money is going, then they could have said that from the beginning

If LSU pushes forward on this, I wish they would invite one of the Discovery Channel crews (Build it Bigger or the like) to document the expansion and what goes into it. It would be pretty cool to have a documentary on the growth of one of the greatest sports venues in the world.

Can't switch to turf. Miles only eats grass.

LSU fills the stadium maybe 2-3 times a yr. Why would you want it to look emptier on TV? They should clean up what they've got now before looking at expanding.

Not true. There are stadiums that are bigger with real grass.

Very true... I'm guessing you don't realize that the height of the stadium and direction to which it faces has an effect on the amount of sunlight that the field sees

This was also confirmed by Ronnie Haliburton about a year ago.

I'm going out on a limb and predict that it won't look like this...

...at all.

Since the stated goal is "more suites than seats", it might wind up looking more this...

..and end up being largely new endzone suites.

BTW that is the proposed renovations to UNC's Kenan Memorial Stadium
