Why is it that LSU in a 2 games series agreement with another school. With only two exception always travels to the opponent first before they come to Baton Rouge.

Since 2002:

2002 Virginia Tech - Blacksburg
2007 Virginia Tech - BR

2003 Arizona - Tucson
2006 Arizona - BR

2009 Washington - Seattle
2012 Washington - BR

2010 West Virginia - BR
2011 West Virginia - Morgantown

2015 Syracuse - NY
2017 Syracuse - BR

Future schedules

2019 Texas - Austin
2020 Texas - BR

2021 UCLA - L.A.
2024 UCLA - BR

2025 Clemson - Clemson
2026 Clemson - BR

2027 Oklahoma - Norman
2028 Oklahoma - BR

2029 Arizona State - BR
2030 Arizona State - Tempe

it appears that this is something they are giving up in negotiations. Why and what they getting in return?

It's specifically so schools can cancel their return trip due to being afraid of the LSU fans.

It's like taking a girl out to a nice dinner before taking her back to your place and doing the horizontal tango. Sure, the dinner is nice, but everyone knows what you'll remember for years to come.

I’ve been harping on this for a while. You think LSU would have learned after the shite Virginia Tech pulled starting in 2002. But most in the administration weren’t around for that.

It started with Virginia Tech scheduling a game late the week before LSU in 2002 to get a tuneup then backing out of the 2004 return trip. That’s part of what made the arse raping of them in 2007 so sweet.

Considering that Va Tech win was vital to LSU jumping up to be in the national championship game, I would say that it worked out ok for us.

It’s probably something that the LSU administration has decided they are ok with conceding if it means we are getting big time home and home series in the future.

Maybe verge wants our team to perform well enough in the first game AT our opponent so the pressure is on the opponent to beat us the returning year at our house.

I bet the coaches are using the hell out of this in the recruitment of all of these west coast kids. Go back home and beat the hell out of UCLA in front of family and friends.

Man that’s an excellent point I haven’t thought of but of course I forgot we were playing UCLA. Hell Oklahoma gets further and further away.

Maybe it has something to do with the odd/even years schedules. In even years we usually have an early road trip to Auburn, so we want the non-conference game at home. In odd years Auburn is at home, so they don't mind the early road trip.

This year the first SEC game is @Vandy, so that doesn't exactly hold true.

It probably has more to do with maximizing the number of home games in a given year. Once they started going away for the first game in the series, they were probably stuck continuing to do it.

The year LSU plays at Clemson I believe I saw where they are supposed to play at Bama and at UGA the same year, that will be tough assuming all coaches are still in place.

That's in six years.

Though it's not a true home and home, what happened to the series with FSU? One game in New Orleans and one in Orlando. I never saw anything about an official cancellation. It's pretty lame to play "neutral site" games so close to each other's fan base but would still be an interesting match up that we haven't seen in some time.

Yeah that's definitely what was on all our minds when LSU played VIRGINIA TECH IN 2007.
