I used to love listening to these, you could feel that dude’s energy coming through your screen.

Will he be back for this season?

He was likely an undergrad who graduated and moved on.

Pretty sure Mario that works at 104.5 in Baton Rouge is the one who did it. He also did Saints and/or pelicans too. I guess he still does it, idk.

Mario still does the games in Spanish. Someone who does their broadcast in English did not like that everyone loved the Spanish highlights, so LSU stopped promoting it.

Mario is the man - his Spanish broadcasts are great and he might know more about the Pelicans than anyone else on the planet. His NBA takes are always informative

Huh. Never have heard of the Spanish broadcasts. I knew there had been some of big games but I thought that was on the media side for the station that was showing the game.

I love Mario's broadcasts. His passion, enthusiasm, and love for LSU comes out in his high energy calls. Also, his interspersing of English with Spanish is brilliant and timely. Touchdown ELLL-SSS-UUUUUUU!!!!!

Might be an unpopular opinion because I do like Chris Blair’s professionalism, but I feel like Mario would have the passion that we’ve been missing since Hawthorne retired. Kinda wish he could call the football games in English for the radio and let Blair do the other sports.

This is America learn to speak English…we shouldn’t be broadcasting anything in any other language but English.

Spanish was spoken here in Louisiana long before English, dumbass.

You’re joking right? Hawthorne was not a good play-by-play guy. Constantly screwing up names and calls. Always over the top and premature:

“They’re not gonna catch him!!!…. And he’s finally brought down at the 25 yard line.”

Towards the end he was so soured on Les, he would openly bitch about play calls. If I want over the top homerism followed by constant bitching about play calls, I can just read the Game Threads.
