re: LSU Football 6-6....Get the F out of here

Big talk now that the games have been played.

With a loss to MSU or AUB or GA 2018 could have been as bad as 2014 at 4-4 SEC.

2018 set the record for pass att/gm over the last decade with LSU settling for the most FGs in the Nation.

The 7OTs raised the Scoring OFF: avg pts/gm from 78th to 44th.


2014: 4-4 SEC

2016: 5-3 SEC

2018: 5-3 SEC

Well that could have easily happened in 2014

2014 was 8-5 with 4 wins (Wisc, FLA, Ole Miss, & TAMU) as toss ups.

Saying that we could have lost a game is not the same as predicting we lose a game.

Well that's a false narrative The same false narrative used to say 9-3 is the same as 11-1 because the pundits predicted we would only win 6 games. No matter how you slice it, there's no way I'm believing we would only win 6 games

Good post. My point was we can argue 6-6, 7-5, even 10-1. Forget record. If we arent competing for first in the west i dont want to hear it. We finished 3rd(!) in the west!! Argue about total record all day but I’ll care when we are in the mix for the sec west. Until then it doesnt matter. Citrus, sugar, fiesta. All pointless if we arent competing for championships.

OP is right. There were some outlandishly stupid predictions nationally about this club, but on this forum even the most critical were far more positive about the overall final record than what is now being pushed.

Where the disconnect is I think is that those of us that have been critical were saying that even at 9 wins we ought not look at that as some triumphant season, given those types of season were WHY we fired Miles in the first fricking place. So...we were more positive in terms of what we thought the final record would be, but negative about what it would mean for the program. Because of that, people who are Pro-Orgeron were mad.

Flip side of that was that those who were most Pro-Orgeron were hesitant to predict even 9 wins, because it would lock them into having to defend less than that. Only outliers there were guys like Cliff who went on and on for weeks about how if we started 4-0 we'd go 12-0.
