and that was the 2011 season. That hits hard with all the talent we have had. It will be 10 years after this season. Les had a good record while he was here but i guess 9-4 or 10-3 doesn't keep you elite. My question to you is would you rather make a run at a title every 3 or 4 years? or just go 10-3 for say maybe 5 years. I know everyone will say run at the title but that means a few years such as FSU or UF has had recently. Where football becomes an after thought and the college football season is no fun.

I mean look at Neb. they had Bo Pelini going 9-3 every year and that wasnt good enough so they canned him and they have suffered for like 3 years with miserable seasons. Now what if Frost comes in and leads them to a playoff berth next year. Would that type of scenario be ok for tiger fans? I'm not sure its worth it. Thoughts? I mean is LSU in a good place currently? or we in the Bo Pelini loop?

2010 + 2011 would still be twice if you change to 2008

9-10 wins a year is consistently good, it’s more of the frustration that we’re not competing for our own division with the talent at LSU.
A lot of it is to blame on who we’re competing against. Bama has made it difficult for as good as they have been.
You have to blame the rest on coaching and the inability to produce a solid QB.
Some has to do with recruiting, and some unfortunate circumstances with QB’s getting kicked off, signing with the MLB or just never making it to campus.

I would like to see how this coaching staff does with an actual talented QB. Because the talent has been there at other positions.

I think a different way of saying this is would you prefer to have been AU back from 2000 to now. It's like a damn roller coaster. Sure, there was a title in there 2010 and a 13-0 season in 2004 and a loss in the title game in 2013, but there was also a 5-7 season, a 3-9 season and lots of shite that would drive us crazy here in the neighborhood of 8-5.

All things being equal, I prefer winning consistently because I think that you tend to break through more often on whole if you're closer more often.

That being said, if you could guarantee titles if it meant having some shitty seasons, I'll take that...but I don't think it works that way.

And we won't have one this year either.

But I feel better about the program today than I did two years ago.

It is frustrating to See teams like clemson, UGA, OSU with so many good/great Qb's starting as freshman/Soph's and making progress every year only to watch LSU qb's struggle for 3 to 4 years. I hope the two we got now can be good just need to see it to believe it. Seems like the teams that are always in the playoff are the teams that have a good to great QB. Not a game manager. i believe those days are over. Until that guy is at LSU i dont believe we make the playoff. Do i think we have that guy on the roster? It depends on who's coaching him i guess.

You can’t look at it unless you consider it against the strength of schedule and a comparison to the SEC west.

In 2015 we finished 8-3 and 9-3 overall - which for all intent and purpose 10-3 due to the cancellation of he McNeese State game this is considering Les never loss a regular season game to an OOC Opponent until wisky 2016.

In 2015, AU finished at 7-6 as 2-6 in the division. 4 in the Division with winning SEC records. MSU ended up 9-4 and second to last in the division due to head to head loss to TAMU which lost its Bowl game and ended 8-5.
Here’s the kicker, 2015 that was against the NUMBER 2 most difficult schedule in the country at the end of the year. Wisky went on to play in their league championship and well Bama was Bama, UF won the east, etc.

This past season, we had the NUMBER 47 ranked SoS and 2 teams with losing SEC records and 2 more at 4-4. 3 with winning records in the SEC.

If you don’t look at it that way, then I can’t help you understand the difference between mediocrity, good and great.

And even then,......we finished 3rd in the SEC West,....and Bama wan't one of the teams that finished ahead of us.

That's life in the SEC West....and having UF as a permanent cross division rival hasn't helped.

But in that time frame, all those schools had seasons that were worse than any LSU had, and had shite QB play too.

LSU isn't the only top notch program that has had poor QB play over the last decade. Look at fsu rt now. Bad QB play, bad season. UF? No Tebow, offense has been utter dog shite since and are now on coach #3.

The program was never going to tank under Les imo. Not like some of these other schools had at times.

You have to keep in mind that our ranking is relative to other programs that are not in the SEC West. Including UF, LSU has had an eventual national championship game/playoff team on their schedule from 2006 to 2017.

It's a crazy difficult schedule, but if you want to be No. 1 you're gonna have to beat the best.

9-3 with 3 rent a wins is only a true 6-6.

So Hudspeth can beat Saban.

It doesn't work that way.
