LSU fans’ perspectives on non-playoff NY6 games?

Just curious as to everyone’s thoughts are on this...
I am of the opinion that in any given year, after the playoff bowl games, any of the remaining NY6 bowls are pretty much equal in terms of stature and being selected for any of these bowls (though the Rose Bowl is not likely an option for non BIG-10 or PAC-10 teams in a non-playoff year) is an achievement. All of the games are now considered prestigious and are played in great stadiums.
The only real differences I now see in the games are the locations (travel for fans), start times and the possible opponent pool (i.e. how the Sugar Bowl in non-playoff years contractually matches the Big 12 vs. the SEC).
I remember growing up in the late 80s, there were 5 major bowls (Rose, Sugar, Orange, Cotton and Fiesta). If LSU went to any of them (though Sugar was the only realistic option at the time), it was a great year.
While obviously I would have rather beat A&M and likely gone to the Sugar Bowl, I’m really excited at the prospect of either the Peach or the Fiesta. I don’t view either bowl as a “consolation prize” for missing out on the Sugar Bowl. I understand that the Sugar Bowl is closest to LSU and is historically the “host bowl” of the SEC champion, so LSU fans probably will always gravitate towards it. But for non-playoff teams, I’m not sure there is really a difference anymore in which NY6 bowl game you go to, other than ease of travel.
Thoughts?

Give me Fiesta Bowl vs. Michigan, UCF, or Boise State/Fresno State winner.

This still should be the case. Being happy that we are in the top 10 and going to a great bowl does not mean we shouldn't do better. You can be happy, and still strive for improvement.
Any LSU fan that classifies a Fiesta Bowl as a failure is a miserable person.

Welp, if UCF goes down on Saturday it's certainly a possibility.

I agree with your sentiment. Obviously, wish we would have won on Saturday, but all of the non-playoff NY6 bowl games are pretty similar in my eyes. Not living in LA anymore it doesn't matter to me which NY6 we go to, I just want a good match up.
That being said...there are direct flights from Midland to Phoenix so I'm very tempted to go if that's where we end up

Exactly. Obviously I want to be playing for the N.C. each year, but in years we don’t, I’m not going to be miserable at a major bowl. I’ve been to most LSU bowl games since 95, including Indy, Peach (1996 when still an afterthought), Outback and Cap One/Citrus. I’m not going to complain about Fiesta Bowl or modern Peach Bowl.

Give me Fiesta with Michigan. Just recently retired in Dallas and I've been wanting to spend a couple of winter weeks in Arizona. I don't want to go back to Florida again or the Peach Bowl in Atlanta. Looking for something new and different and the Fiesta provides both.

Ny6 or let's get ties to Vegas bowl

We’ve never been to the Fiesta Bowl, so hopefully our fans would travel well. Bring back the days of “ we don’t travel, we take over.” We haven’t brought many fans to a bowl game since the Texas Bowl in 2015.

I already told my husband that if LSU goes to the Fiesta, we'll be!

Havent we been here before with a possible Rose Bowl invite, and ended up in the Peach Bowl?
I think youre most likely to see UMICH v UCF in the Fiesta, purely for ratings.
Big 10 team, with a national following, and lots of Snowbirds in Metro Phoenix, verses an undefeated UCF team.

Fiesta yes.
Peach no.

The time slot sucks for both. 11am or 12pm is terrible for a big bowl game.

Any of those traditional, bowls are a good reward for a. Very good season. We need to focus on player development and the early signing period. We really Ned an offensive tackle and zone blocking clinic for 13 practices.
It would be nice to expand our defensive line rotation a little bit as well.

I’m flying to Arizona for the Fiesta Bowl if we’re in it. Bucket list trip.

Michigan in Atlanta would sell more tickets than being played in Arizona.

We cannot be picky about which NY6 bowl or opponent we have. We take what we are given this year and call it a success.
120 other teams would love a chance at a top ten finish, 118 other teams would love to be in a NY6 game this year and 110+ teams would love a chance at a 10 win season.
This has a chance to be a great year.
