I grew up in Georgia as an LSU fan. I didn't want to go to UGA, Auburn or ga southern like my entire class was doing.

Lucky for me, they still had the legacy scholarship. My mom graduated from LSU and I had 3/4 of out of state tuition waved.

Moved to br, made it my perma address and got instate tuition after a year.

What do y'all think about this?

I think it's kind of strange. Imagine a kid who grew up in Georgia, moved to New Orleans at 12, went to LSU, but stayed a Georgia fan. You should change your name to Abby Normal.

Lifetime LSU fan. My father played on the 58 NC team and my name is actually on the plaque entering the stadium since i am a Jr. Was always pretty cool to show my dates! But married a Buckeye who wasn't a big sports fan. First date was to the LSU game at Auburn where Howard threw all the pick 6's. We lived in Columbus Ga so drove over for the game. It was then she noticed how serious SEC football was. One of our next dates was in Baton Rouge for a game. That is when she fell in love with LSU football She goes for the culture, the tailgates and all my crazy friends who I graduated with back in 84!

I went to LSU and 2nd degree at TAM.
My daughters went to TAM and Mizzou
My son-in law went to Tenn and UF Law,
My brother went to ND.
My wife is a longhorn

I root for all of them, except when they plat LSU.
Fall Saturdays are a blast at my house. I watch 2 or 3 games and check up on 2 or 3 more each Sat.

Undergrad at LSU and Grad school at Rice.
HATE TAMU & UT
I don’t pull for Rice for any sport including baseball. Just can’t do it. I want LSU to win EVERYTHING EVERY YEAR.

Went to Baylor. Was raised an LSU fan.

Would have gone to LSU but Baylor was cheaper after out of state.

Lots of kids don't grow up affiliated with a particular college, but those that do develop a passion for a college during their childhood almost never lose it. I completely understand OP's perspective.

To add some perspective, I lived close enough to Tiger Stadium that I could hear the crowd erupt before seeing a touchdown on TV. I'm also the first male in my family to not go to LSU since the university was created. Curious why I went to UGA? In-State tuition and 82 bars

They're lots of us out here in the ole USA that feel that way, my man, not just you. I grew up in the '80's in LA and played sports in the '80's, and received a scholly to Texas Tech to play ball there. I did, but I've always followed LSU sports wise, love the football program especially when coach Saban took it over. You could see it changing and evolving into a powerhouse program and it did after the 2003 title. They get outstanding talent there that can compete with anyone in the country, they just hadn't realized it even after winning that first title, they lost a game the following year to Iowa when he was leaving to go to the pros, I think in a bowl game on a last second hail mary pass by Iowa I, but it shouldn't ever never been that close to begin with imo.

But the year after when Miles took over they should have been unbeaten blowing a opening game against Tennessee I think when they were blowing them out, and let them storm back in the second half on the arm of a backup QB. Lol They could have and should have won another NCAA title that year, but people claim they were tired after going through a grinding season without a break. I don't think that's the case, and think that they would have won another title if it had been Saban back at coach, but this was just a omen of things to come under coach Miles with LSU football. LSU is a school and place unlike any other in the country I think, and with the right coach can regain what they once started and had.

So, he went and played for Georgia, but cheers for a major rival in Auburn? How'd that work out? Was he not recruited by Auburn or something

played 4 yrs at uga. WAS recruited by auburn. wanted to go. they began their early 90's tv and bowl ban. although not too far from norcross, ga, his parents had issues making every game. he chose to play close to home and televised. idk. never made sense to me either. he pulls for uga, but his favorite team was/is/remains auburn.

I’m a Texas State alumnus, LSU fan.

Academics and athletics are two separate departments.

All I can think of is in 2006, when I was like 7 or 8, I liked Florida because I thought Gators were cool and blue was my favorite color

Every year since, I've been watching and keeping up with LSU non-stop. Little 8 year old me was a dumbass but 9 year old me knew exactly who to cheer for
