Keli Zinn (Executive Deputy AD) has said they expect this new facility to be open within 5 years.

The actual land the golf course is on is incredibly shitty. It needs an extreme amount of work for any sort of development to happen.

Not arguing with you, but how is the land the course is on shittier than anything else around there, including Alex Box, the Tennis center, etc.?

No developer will go buy land in tigerland for a long time .. if the center happens they will get sweetheart deals from lsu for the adjacent property.. ie the golf course.. how many acres between this new center and tigerland.. … you have years and years of lsu property to develop before going into the hood and buying out individuals slumlords … ( any one could hold out and mess with the area buyout).. and Fred’s owns most of the bars already.. he will not sell out .. he has a dynasty..

Tigerland will stay the same.. young people will go in.. older crowd will not leave the entertainment center to go in ( unless they want to crack their head open in a frat fight).. and the crime already there will have an easier area to venture out to target..

Imo this will not impact tigerland..it is to far from a development point of view with too much prime property to focus on ( remaining golf course ) first..

They should put it in the same sacred spot where it is now. We can play in the cow palace meanwhile. We'll never have more than 5k at games anyway as long as McMahon is here

Picture this

The year is 2027, LSU football is coming off a 2026 National Title and firmly entrenched as one of the top 3 programs in the country.

Jay Johnson and Kim Mulkey are on a quest for their 3rd national titles at LSU, respectively, with rumors that Kim is set to turn the reigns to Seimone Augustus soon.

LSU basketball is finally a consistent tournament player, albeit riding the coattails of the above mentioned sports. A ribbon cutting ceremony is set ahead of the 2027 season - Baton Rouge is riding high.

Honestly, I'm amazed a developer hasn't bought the area. Tear down the old garbage buildings and put in a mixed development like Perkins Rowe.
What tenants want to setup shop in the middle of a section 8 neighborhood?

Tiger land has 0.0% chance to ever become anything meaningful as long as section 8 exists there

They can keep the PMAC for volleyball and gymnastics but they at least need to demolish the ramps taking up all that space. Would make the area more open.

EBR voted on widening La 30 from LSU to Lee when Kip Holden was mayor. It passed.
Broome rolled this project into her MovEBR plan. It also passed.

We are waiting. It’s been over a decade.

Gourrier cuts off the golf course from Alex Box. Tennis was already somewhat developed before because they have that LaHouse next to it. The sq footage needed for T&F to be completely moved (both indoor AND outdoor) made the scoop of the project include so much golf course land.

The golf course has really shitty soil, especially when it rains. SEC XC Championships were supposed to be there. Money was spent to work on sections of the golf course to create paths for the proposed course and while that was going on, engineers kept finding more problems with it. Eventually it got moved to U Club's golf course earlier that year.

I'm going to guess there's drainage out there. The golf course is not maintained well, only the bare minimum. LSU moved mountains to give baseball the new Alex Box. T&F will continually get the shaft regardless of how successful they are because they burn through so much money.

I would not be surprised if the golf course project got up to $1bn after all is said and done, not just because of how crooked the construction management will be, but because there will be an arse ton of unforeseen problems.

It took UT and Austin less than 2.5 years to build the Moody from groundbreaking to ribbon cutting, AND that was with COVID in between - if it takes 5 years to build, that would be egregious. Louisiana has to do better at things like that.

Will be the end of an era. We used to practice patrolling and infiltration tactics at the golf course, back in the day.
