This was reported by college football analysts based on reports they were getting "out of Baton Rouge". Someone on here started a thread about it and most comments were scoffing at the idea. I also thought it sounded ludicrous. Now it appears they were right. How can everyone EXCEPT the ones in charge see this?

Let him play both ways. Try him at running back. He averaged 19 yards a carry his senior season in high school.

He was too effective that way. He’s learning a new position. Give him time.

Apparently teams were starting to figure out how to neutralize him by the end of last year by stacking multiple receivers on his side which put him into coverage.

I agree we need to figure out how to maximize his talent

Do you have any links to articles/interviews about this?

I would put him in the same position as last year and not worry about how to “use” him

I think they promised to get him ready for the NFL as a linebacker. Thus, the confusion.

Our defense is in trouble if we continue to use him like we did against FSU

Because he's not traditional in what he does best, and House/Kelly are simply not imaginative or creative in how they want football to be played. They see him as an off ball LB, kept him off the field early last year because he needed to play off ball LB, and as Perkins made an impact started using him in that role more (and his effectiveness declined). Now they get a full offseason with him and that's all they worked on and the only way they see him.

TD Thread

Here is the thread. The responses are funny looking back now knowing that everything they said was 100% correct.

I remember seeing that same thread and thinking there is no way there is any truth to this. LSU is paying them a lot of money to know what to do with the players we have. Transfer portal doesn’t leave a lot of room for error here. It did NOT look good Sunday night!

I was one saying McElroy didn’t know what he was taking about. I was also one saying he was correct, after the game lol.

I think we have to bite the bullet and put him at a full time edge rusher. Figure out how to protect him against the run game. He can rush the passer off the edge and occasionally drop back to spy or in coverage.

We got very little pass pressure from our ends last weekend anyway.

My only concern about Perkins is setting the edge due to his size, but that’s what we pay BK to figure out.
