We would have won 10 in 2015. You seem fine awarding moral victories so why don’t you include that one?
Well, in fairness, I don't see anyone awarding Orgeron the 2016 game against South Alabama we lost due to Florida's "Hurricanegate." So probably best to ignore games that weren't played.

This move by Alleva makes no sense. Why give Orgeron an increase until he proves consistency. No school is coming after Orgeron and if Aranda leaves to take an NFL job, or a job with another school, we will be paying for another buyout.

Wise decision for multiple reasons....they got this one right.

the extension is expected and is necessary for recruiting. the buyout being $10 mil is dumb but it's honestly not that bad. I think that mean it's $2.5 mil a year right? they already know that they won't be firing him any time within the next 2 years anyway, so if we're seriously bad and he needs to be fired 2 years from now then a $5 mil buyout isn't too bad. could anyone correct me on my buyout math or do I understand that correctly?

Happy for our shrimp boat captain

How did he earn this? The LSU administration is a joke. Third place sec west finishes as far as the eye can see.

In more fairness, Les never lost OOC home games.

not sure how that's, in any way, relevant to my post, but you've been on a roll with angry posts this afternoon so don't let me stand in your way buddy

You don't see how that's relevant to your post?

Correct. Miles never having lost a home OOC game has nothing to do with crediting either Miles or Orgeron with OOC wins in games that were never played. If you want to draw unwarranted inferences from that statement, then you may be the one in need of some help. Have a good night

Unwarranted and unjustified
Par for the course with this administration.
Raise still has CEO in the bottom half of the SEC Coaches. Team has consistently finished in the top third of the SEC the 3 seasons he has finished.
And for you Never-Eds the buyout is still not excessive like Jimbo and Gus. The tea leaves that I see is that CEO is safe as long as he keeps in the top 3 of SECw. If he dips to bottom half of SECw he will be in deep shite. Miles buyout is gone so LSU HC shopping power has improved.

With all due respect, I really like Coach O.
However, I think this move is unwarranted given what he HASN’T accomplished during his tenure.
-Hasn’t beaten Alabama
-No division title
-No conference title
Anything I’m missing?

3rd place in the west gets an extension?

Well, now that LSU is paying more for him, he’d better go no worse than 10-2 this year. Really he should have to go 11-1 to avoid the hot seat. I thought the idea was to save money and spend it on coordinators.
Now that we are paying more, we get to expect more.

“ raise is deserved”
A coach got fired after finishing 4th in the SEC, but 3 yrs later 5th in the SEC is deserving of a raise.
The optics of this along with the basketball cluster frick is really pretty bad, but hopefully somehow both work out for LSU.

As long as there is a clause to fire him for cause, this may be a trap the admin is setting for him...get him into what appears to be a better contract, but actually makes it easier to let him go if anything pops with this federal investigation of OLOL/LSU.

I disagree. He's earned it.
