Awesome post. Love that free throw ranking. Should serve us well later this season.

Thanks! I'll look into it, I just used the variety of different sites to give more of a variety of different ways they are ranked.

No worries man. The data on that site is stacked and much more accurate. Your numbers are before Texas A&M game.

For example:

PPG
LSU: 82.7 (27th in NCAA)
Opp: 71.6 (181st in NCAA)

RPG
LSU: 37.9 (158th in NCAA)
Opp: 33.6 (67th in NCAA)

APG
LSU: 14.1 (187th)
Opp: 11.0 (30th)

LSU's actually 56th in defensive efficiency on KP, not 66. While that's not elite by any means, it represents SIGNIFICANT improvement from December. If that number continues to climb and LSU's offensive number remains roughly the same (top 15), this team is going to be very tough to beat.

Overall LSU is ranked #22 on KenPom. Traditionally, to have a real shot at the national championship you need to be ranked in the top 12. Keep an eye on that number.

Also, the OP may want to include stats/ranking for rebound %. That is a better measure of how good a team is at rebounding. To that end, LSU is ranked around 60th in total rebounding %. Good, but not great.

However, they are an elite offensive rebounding team (currently ranked just outside the top 10). Those are the kind of things that allow you to still win games on nights you aren't shooting it well. We saw just that vs. A&M. LSU shot it terribly and STILL won by 15. How? They had 21 offensive rebounds and 21 second-chance points. Those are backbreakers for the opponent.

bpi only gives lsu a 40% chance of making the 2nd round. maybe because they have lsu as a 5 seed? so, 5-12 upset?

Would you mind including Sagarin ratings too? I fully understand if you don't. There's so many metrics nowadays and wouldn't want your spreadsheet to get too cluttered.

I really enjoy this btw. I'm looking up all the metrics after every game so it's nice that it'll all be updated in one post. Great job.

Updated 2/1/19. I will add Sagarin over the weekend. Had trouble finding out RB % in conference and didn't want to pay for KenPom to get conference only stats. Open to suggestions to add/remove stuff.

Great job, Wes.

Am I the only one who is ecstatic that we are making 78.9% of our FT's in SEC play? It is making a big difference and is a reason why we are 7-0 now in the SEC.

If you have time, you just gotta dig a little deeper to find the free ways to get that stuff. It is out there.

who downvotes a post that is literally just a spreadsheet of information

Generally losers who lack the intelligence or education (and for those losers who don't know, intelligence and education are not the same thing) to post great information like this. Probably young, late teens or early 20's, individuals who didn't get attention from mom or dad unless it was negative. Non-athletic who have a chip on their shoulder for sports or those who like sports. Not everyone is good at athletics, but some accept this and move on while still maintaining aa love of sports, while others, like these harbor ill feelings. The only way to express it is to get on TD and downvote anything positive or constructive.

Does that say LSU is 260th in the nation in 3pt %? Not surprising but damn that needs to improve

Yes it does, 3pt %, TO, and Assists are really the only bad things about LSU's offense but LSU runs a lot of iso so its not surprising assists are down.

i'm curious about the s.o.s. disparity between bpi/kenpom and rpi. not sure why there's such a big difference. also, it appears that the sec has unbelievably tough schedules. most of the teams are in the 30's and higher

also interesting, 3% allowed. sec only lsu appears to be #1 which is surprising to me. seems like lsu struggles with that more. gotta love the rebounding and steals!

You could argue that teams don’t shoot many 3’s vs LSU simply because it’s so easy to get to the rim against LSU. Or, because LSU has played several bad offensive teams thus far in conf play.

The 3 point defense will get its test tomorrow with AU.

LSU is 5th...in the country in offensive rebounding %. You can get away with a lot of bad shots if you’re that good. But AU and UK are also in the top 15. The next two games are going to be battles.
