As for Graham, Green, and Harris, are we really depending on these guys for valuable minutes? If we are, we really are going to have some problems this year.
Green is injured and probably will take a redshirt. Harris is redshirting as well.
Graham has been pretty good so far from when he's been on the court.

I was pointing out that the guys we were missing really wouldn't have made much difference in the outcome of last night's game. It wasn't like we were missing starters or even players 6 or 7 off of the bench. We were missing 8,9, and 10. That was my point.
On a team like this, everyone has a role. You say we played sloppy, maybe they were a bit more tired without some capable subs to go in for a few minutes. Every little bit helps. Sure, Graham, Green, and Harris don't see the floor often...but as subs, they have a job even if it's only for 2 or 3 minutes a game.

Green is injured and may RS if he can't come back with any kind of reasonable timetable to get into shape and then contribute to the team. Harris is going to RS and they will try to bulk him up in the offseason.
Graham is raw, as is Warren and Bass, but they bring energy and fresh legs to the court. They will be needed this season if for no other reason than to give the starters a 2-3 minute rest.
Warren has shown the most early promise and TJ has given him decent minutes in the first few games. In last night's game I noticed him talking to a trainer when he came off and he sat at the very end of the bench. Usually when a guy sits there he is getting looked at. He might have tweaked something and there was no reason to put him back in and risk worse.
The layoff they have until the next game will give them time to heal those little nicks and work on the things that they have struggled with to this point. Plus, they have game film to use as a teaching tool. I won't jump to conclusions and say this team is going to win the West or even go to the dance......but they have a shot.

This year reminds you of the year we had Stromile Swift, Jabari Smith, Lamont Roland, etc.??? Who's this year's Stromile Swift? I don't think that that is a good comparison. This team has nowhere near the talent that that team did.
I never said same talent level. We don't need same talent level to win SEC this year imho. If you remember the SEC that year was loaded...what was it? 4 way tie for first? All good teams.
This years team though..just like that team..is getting the confidence it needs early..and thats what they need..just like that team..and the SEC is far weaker than that year...so they can def. make a run at the west.

I agree that the SEC is weak this year, but that's just gonna make our RPI even worse at the end of the year. We may need to go 10-6 or 11-5 in the SEC just to get into the tourney, and I'm not sure if this team can do that.
Have you seen the SEC? Dude, this team is fairly good looking and the SEC as a whole sucks this year.

I would be really disappointed with that record this year in the SEC.

Alabama hasn't impressed so far and they should be LSU's main competitor. IF LSU stays healthy, they could possibly win 9-10 SEC games. Having said that, I'll hold off on any serious predictions until early Jan for obvious reasons.
I think stat is really looking over the state of the SEC and thinking it's not so bad when it really is. Take a look at the SEC West for instance (10 of our games).
Ole Miss - Looked good pre-season but has now alreayd lost 2 guys to injury.
Alabama - Supposed to be the best SEC West team pre-season but have done nothing but underperform losing to the likes of Mercer and getting DESTROYED by a so-so Oregon squad.
Arkansas - Needed OT to beat Southeastern LA, lost to a so-so Missouri State team and has only 10 scholarship players with a majority of them being freshmen.
Auburn - Will continue sucking like usual.
Mississippi State - Looks like the only team that will be pretty competitive. HAve 2 fairly clsoe losses to Texas Tech and Washington State.
If we don't get 7 wins out of the SEC West alone something is wrong.

This team will have underperformed if we only go 8-8. Right now it's looking like at least 9 or 10 wins IMO.

I'll say one thing, I like that there is so much basketball conversation going on. Most years it's tough to get anyone to care.
Now if we could just get a few more in the PMAC...

You might want to preface that with a "barring injuries" statement.

I'm ready for A & M! Any chance you make that one Jack?

Sounds like nearly everyone is confident that we'll make the tournament this year. I hope you're all right. I'm not so confident. I need to see us matchup with anybody with a decent post player or two. If we can handle that, than I will lean a little more in that direction.

Yup.
The "STFU football season" people seem to have vanished in basketball threads.

I don't care. I still look forward to a better basketball program ran like it should be.

Barring injury, sure. I see us at least going 9-7 in the SEC.
