Sounds like nearly everyone is confident that we'll make the tournament this year. I hope you're all right. I'm not so confident. I need to see us matchup with anybody with a decent post player or two. If we can handle that, than I will lean a little more in that direction.

There's really only 2 good (Big) post players in the SEC West we'll face. Jarvis Varnado of MSU and Michael Washington of Arkansas.

I'm ready for A & M! Any chance you make that one Jack?

I'm thinking more and more that I need to look into that trip seriously. Could be a good road trip.

I wouldn't call it confidence. I'd call it almost-cautious-optimism. Between the new coach, the early play of the team, the relative down year the SECW looks to have, and the talent that is on the team, it is a good possibility that this team could get hot and make the tourney.

Stat you're right about one thing...it's going to be tough next year I'm afraid so we'll have to exercise patience.

And I've watched North Carolina a couple of times and it give one an indication of how far we have to go to get in that class.

But the good news is we play in the SEC, which is down as it's been in some time. Relative to the rest of the SEC and specifically our division or talent this year barring an serious injury stacks up pretty well.

I'd go as far as to say only 3 maybe 4 SEC teams have an edge on us in that regard. And one of those has Gottfried as a coach, which is nice.

So enjoy this year and keep your fingers crossed that Trent can recruit as well as it looks to this point that he can coach.

Geaux Tigers!!

Now, we are actually moving towards maximizing the talent we do have. Even if we aren't "great", we still look more like a basketball team with an excellent upside, this season and the seasons to come. Not so sure that was the case in the past.

Absolutely agree. If your team can win with a running game, why play half-court all the time? I'm pleased to see this.

The problem is that maybe only 4 teams get in from the SEC this year b/c it's so weak.

That'd be pretty bad but I think at least 5 make it.

What I am surprised about as well is the fact that Vandy has looked pretty bad. I still think the tourney teams are going to be UT/Fla/LSU/KY and after that i'm clueless, maybe State.

State will make it.

Vandy has been VERY disappointing this year. How can they not beat the likes of Illinois-Chicago with a good Aussie 7 foot center?

I thought I read the score wrong last night, so I double checked before I posted that. Since 2000 when I became hooked on LSU hoops, this has to be the leanest year I can remember. In the early part of the decade it was all KY/Georgia/Fla and to an extent Bama/Auburn/Ole Miss.

WOW...........Four pages of discussion for Tiger Basketball I love it.I have been to five of the games, this team can win the west easily this year.I've seen the rest of the wesy play except Auburn and they all are lacking. That being said if the bench can't give us 12-15 points and 8-10 rebounds a night we will not advance very far in the post season.I think our starting five are as good as 8-10 teams in the SEC.TJ will get the most out of these guys and that should be good enough to get in the toury and maybe with the right matchup win a game.Come on out and watch these kids play.
