I don't recall it. I remember when LSU made the post-season in 75 or 76 whatever it was, those games being on the radio.

Don’t forget Wichita State.

The reason why it became so popular is because ESPN started broadcasting the college World Series. When did ESPN come to the south? Late 70s /early 80s via cable.

LSU has 31 wins in their 7 championship years.

They only have 15 wins in the other 12 appearances combined.

Boom or bust in Omaha which checks out from recent memory.

Two things about that list ...

1. It might take 30-40 years, but eventually LSU will have the most NC.

2. The North isn't good at baseball.

I could care less about Historical Rankings.

Bottom line. No SR or CWS this year.

Many of you are "Just Fine" with living in the thrill of past glory.

What have you done for me lately?

Is Jay Johnson bringing in enough elite Pitchers and Hitters to elevate the program back to the CWS and to by-pass Tennessee, A$M and now Texas?

That's ALL that matters!

Sec shut that league down. Same in softball. All those pac titles aside from a ucla run are from decades ago.

Not if you look at the players that came through that program during that dominant stretch. I grew up in Miami in the 70's when the Hurricanes were becoming a national power, leading the nation in attendance and they built the finest college baseball stadium at the time. But I wanted to go to USC.

LSU didn't even start caring about baseball until the late 80s, and we're still up there among the greats. It really shows how much Skip did to influence the college baseball landscape.
that’s why I say LSU is a blue-blood even with the late start. LSU is top 5, top 10 in all the postseason/win stats in college baseball history even though we just started trying 40 years ago when Skip was hired. But mainly because college baseball had its renaissance in the 90s brought about by Skip and LSUs dominant run and Omaha isn’t complete without LSU there.

When you think of college baseball today you sure as shite don’t think about USC who has been irrelevant for decades now. Without my bias I still don’t think there’s a more premier brand in college baseball today than LSU. We definitely reached another peak last year with the 1st 2 draft picks + a national title to boot + all-time viewership #s

Imagine someone being such a miserable count where they have a problem with you posting an LSU related topic on an LSU message board. We should clearly stick to high-brow shite like PVC pipes and jello shots for frick sake.

ESPN didn't start broadcasting until late 1979. It probably wasn't until the mid 80's (at the earliest) that a significant number of people (particularly in the south) had it as many home still didn't have cable. I'm pretty sure it wasn't until 87-88 when my family got cable (and ESPN)

Why would A&M and Texas be in this post? A&M lost their staff and most likely a complete roster turnover. Texas hasn’t won a championship in 20 years. You sound like you have a pretty biased opinion.
